Independently completes work following banking technology standards and contributes to the overall stability and resiliency of banking technology within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nWork independently and within the boundaries of the approved Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to process, design, and develop applications to solve business needs and minimize risks to the Bank by writing clean and resilient code.\nRegularly review pull requests, provide feedback, and execute on the change management of the request.\nAuthor organized, clean, efficient, and secure source code at an advanced level in a minimum of one programming language to be verified by a lead software engineer and apply knowledge of appropriate data structure and algorithms to solve business problems.\nUtilize source code management tools to manage and deploy code/ applications and ensure compliance with SDLC policies and support merge conflict resolution.\nIndependently analyze and critique technical and business requirements to ensure completeness, accuracy, and feasibility.\nCollaborate, document, and communicate technical implementation details clearly and concisely with other teams on dependent requirements as needed.\nConduct code reviews, providing constructive feedback on code quality and improvements to team members.\nContribute to conversations with business or technical stakeholders and teams regarding the architecture of their applications.\nUnderstand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.\nPromote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.\nMaintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.\nComplete other related duties as assigned.\nSupervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:\nNo supervisory responsibilities.\nEducation and Experience Required:\nAssociate’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience or Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience. In lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience\nAdvanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with experience developing scalable, high-volume payment applications.\n5-7 years of experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server, including database design, performance tuning, and complex query development.\nStrong experience in banking payments, including Zelle, RTP, or digital payment processing.\nHands-on experience designing and integrating SOAP and REST APIs for internal and external payment ecosystem partners.\nExperience supporting mission-critical, real-time payment systems in a 24x7 production environment, with a focus on resiliency, monitoring, and incident management\nEducation and Experience Preferred:\nAdvanced analytical skills specific to application development\nExperience working in a team environment\nAbility to work autonomously\nAbility to multitask on complex projects\nStrong organizational skills\nStrong time management skills\nProficient verbal and written communication skills\nM&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,100.00 - $161,800.00 Annual (USD).
