We are a growing team, currently supporting multiple teams within our department, with plans to expand our usership to more departments over the next year. With that, we need to build the guardrails to make our software resilient at scale. This role will participate in design, delivery, and evolution of core platform capabilities, including framework enhancements, new data engineering patterns, performance optimization, and resiliency improvements.\nA Software Engineer on this team develops python application code and tests, works with senior engineers to design applications, and supports the existing applications and users\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nBuild and support core ingestion / transformation / deployment frameworks\nDrive standardization across Medallion architecture patterns\nPartner with product teams on performance + resiliency improvements\nSupport production stability and platform governance\nUnderstand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.\nPromote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.\nMaintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.\nComplete other related duties as assigned.\nSupervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:\nNo supervisory responsibilities.\nTech Stack\n- Python (Object Oriented Programming), PyTest, Pydantic, FastAPI\n- Snowflake, Databricks, SQL, RDBMS, ETL\n- CI/CD - Gitlab, Terraform, Ansible\n- Linux, Cloud Compute (Azure)\nEducation and Experience Required:\nAssociate's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience OR Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year systems analysis and/or application development work experience. In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of systems analysis and/or application development work experience\nProfessional proficiency in a minimum of 1 relevant programming language\nEducation and Experience Preferred:\nBasic analytical skills specific to application development\nExperience working in a team environment\nAbility to work autonomously\nAbility to multitask on moderately complex projects\nStrong organizational skills\nStrong time management skills\nProficient verbal and written communication skills\nM&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees.
