You'll be successful in this role if you enjoy digging into problems, working through ambiguity, collaborating with technology and business partners, and contributing across the full lifecycle of the solutions you support.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nWork within the boundaries of the approved Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to solve business needs and minimize risks to the Bank through clean and resilient code with guidance as needed.\nDesign, develop, test, and support applications, APIs, and data solutions that enable business capabilities and operational efficiency.\nWork across a varied technology ecosystem that includes custom applications, APIs, databases, data integrations, and third-party technology platforms.\nBalance application development and enhancement work with production support, troubleshooting, integration, and ongoing application support.\nInvestigate and solve technical problems across existing systems and applications, including unfamiliar code and technologies.\nProvide feedback in pull requests to other team members.\nParticipate in code reviews by presenting code and providing constructive feedback on code quality, maintainability, and performance.\nWrite organized, clean, efficient, and secure source code in one or more programming languages.\nUtilize source control management tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps to organize, maintain, and deploy code.\nAssist in the design and implementation of data models, data acquisition processes, and data movement solutions.\nJointly analyze technical and business requirements for completeness, accuracy, and feasibility with senior team members to ensure accurate scoping of work.\nCollaborate across development, data, and business teams to document and communicate technical implementation details clearly and concisely.\nSupport testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of application and data-related issues.\nContinuously learn and apply emerging technologies, tools, and engineering best practices.\nUnderstand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.\nPromote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.\nMaintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.\nComplete other related duties as assigned.\nEducation and Experience Required\nAssociate's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience OR Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year systems analysis and/or application development work experience. In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of systems analysis and/or application development work experience\nProfessional proficiency in a minimum of one relevant programming language.\nExperience developing and supporting web-based applications and services.\nExperience with Microsoft technologies, including .NET.\nExperience with SQL Server, SQL development, and relational databases.\nExperience building, consuming, supporting, or troubleshooting APIs and system integrations.\nExperience with data modeling, database design, data acquisition, and data movement solutions.\nExperience supporting applications in production environments, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.\nExperience using source control and code management tools such as GitHub and/or Azure DevOps.\nUnderstanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, version control, unit testing, and controlled software delivery.\nAbility to analyze technical and business requirements and translate them into effective solutions.\nAbility to investigate unfamiliar technologies, existing code, and complex technical problems.\nStrong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.\nEducation and Experience Preferred\nExperience supporting enterprise data integration, transformation, or data warehousing initiatives.\nExperience working across both custom-developed and third-party/vendor applications.\nExperience balancing application development with production support, troubleshooting, configuration, integration, and ongoing application support.\nExperience working within a structured technology environment with established processes and controls.\nExperience working within Agile teams and participating in iterative software delivery.\nExperience contributing to modernization or technology transformation initiatives.\nExposure to modern software engineering practices, AI-enabled development tools, or cloud-native technologies.\nDemonstrated comfort working through ambiguity and solving problems that may not have a predefined solution.\nAbility to build relationships and communicate effectively with business partners while maintaining strong technical depth.\nDemonstrated curiosity, adaptability, ownership, and eagerness to learn new technologies and business domains.\nAbility to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a team environment.\nAbility to multitask across moderately complex initiatives while maintaining high-quality deliverables.\nM&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $89,000.00 - $148,300.00 Annual (USD).
