As a member of the Software Engineering leadership team, this role works closely with Software Development Managers, Product Owners, and global R&D counterparts to ensure effective software quality practices, comprehensive testing, and successful product delivery. What you will do\nLead, coach, and develop the U.S.-based Software Testing team, including performance management, career development, workload planning, hiring, and capability development.\nProvide functional leadership for offshore testing resources and partner with offshore management on priorities, staffing, performance, and resource needs.\nEstablish and continuously improve software quality assurance practices, test methodologies, and standards in alignment with the METTLER TOLEDO PLM framework.\nLead risk-based manual, exploratory, functional, regression, system, and integration testing, with particular emphasis on software interaction with laboratory instrumentation.\nOversee the Software Testing Lab, including instruments, configurations, test environments, capacity, and operational readiness.\nWork closely with Software Development Managers, Product Owners, Project Managers, Scrum Masters, and other stakeholders to integrate quality and testing throughout the Agile development lifecycle.\nMaintain strong alignment with global R&D counterparts on testing practices, priorities, release objectives, and continuous improvement.\nPartner with global R&D automation leadership to implement the organization's automation strategy and maintain an effective balance of automated, manual, exploratory, and hardware-integrated testing.\nEstablish meaningful quality metrics and effective defect-management practices to identify risk, improve test effectiveness, and address recurring quality issues.\nAssess software quality and release readiness and communicate significant risks, defects, testing status, and recommendations to project stakeholders and Software Engineering leadership.\nAll other duties as assigned.\nWhat You Need to Succeed\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nSeven (7) years of progressive experience in software quality assurance, testing, or related software engineering disciplines, including at least three years of people-management experience leading a quality or testing function within a structured product-development organization.\nStrong knowledge of quality assurance and test-management practices, including test strategy, risk-based testing, defect management, metrics, traceability, and release readiness.\nExperience with manual, exploratory, system, integration, and regression testing of complex software products.\nExperience testing software integrated with physical hardware, instrumentation, or embedded systems, including managing or coordinating physical test environments or laboratories.\nStrong working knowledge of Agile software development practices.\nExperience leading distributed or international teams in a global, cross-functional environment.\nWorking knowledge of test automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD) practices.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.\nPreferred QualificationsExperience with scientific instrumentation, laboratory automation, or analytical instruments.\nExperience in a regulated, quality-managed, or formally controlled product-development environment.\nFamiliarity with software testing standards or frameworks such as ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 or ISTQB.\nExperience with Azure DevOps or comparable lifecycle, defect-tracking, and test-management platforms.\nProfessional certification in software testing, quality, Agile practices, or a related discipline.\nOur Offer to You\nMedical, dental and vision care coverage and a 401(k) savings plan with company matching - all starting on date of hire \nTuition reimbursement, perks, and discounts \nParental and caregiver leave programs\nAll the usual benefits such as paid time off, flexible spending, short-and long-term disability, basic life insurance, business travel insurance, Employee Assistance Program, and domestic partner benefits \nGlobal market strength and worldwide leadership in precision instrumentation \nA brand name that is identified worldwide with precision, quality, and innovation\nThousands of patents, design and innovation awards across Mettler Toledo \n Global recognition for the quality of our products and services\nAbout Mettler Toledo\nWorking at METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem Inc.
