Working closely with technical architects and multidisciplinary teams, you will undertake research, proof-of-concept development, and technical analysis to support key technology decisions for future architects and technical stakeholders to investigate and validate solution designs.\nConduct technical research and structured analysis to support strategic technology decisions.\nBuild scalable, maintainable software components using modern development frameworks and tools.\nContribute to the establishment of engineering standards, patterns, and best practices.\nWork independently to progress complex technical challenges with minimal direction.\nSupport the evaluation of cloud-native and containerised deployment approaches.\nShare findings and recommendations with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nWhat Success Looks Like in This Role\nDelivery of high-quality prototypes and technical spikes that support informed decision-making.\nEstablishment of robust engineering patterns and development approaches for future teams.\nEffective collaboration with architecture and delivery functions.\nClear documentation of technical findings, recommendations, and risks.\nConsistent delivery in an environment with evolving requirements and limited precedent.\nPositive contribution to technical innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.\nSkills & Experience\nStrong commercial experience developing software using Python.\nExperience with modern web frameworks such as Flask and FastAPI.\nKnowledge of HTML, RESTful APIs, and JSON-based integrations.\nExperience implementing authentication and authorisation solutions using OAuth/OIDC.\nFamiliarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologies.\nStrong Linux administration and development environment experience.\nExperience with containerisation technologies, particularly Docker.\nWorking knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS.\nExperience using Git and modern version control practices.\nUnderstanding of DevOps principles, continuous integration, and deployment practices.\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.\nAbility to work independently and operate effectively within emerging or undefined technical landscapes.\nDesirable Skills\nExperience working within innovation, research, or early-stage product development environments.\nExposure to large-scale digital transformation programmes.\nExperience defining technical standards, patterns, and architectural approaches.\nKnowledge of government digital service standards and accessible design principles.\nExperience working within agile multidisciplinary teams.\nFamiliarity with user-centred design approaches and modern service development
