This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, robotics integration, mechanical system design, and seeing projects move from concept through startup.\nReporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Automation Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design and configuration of established automation system platforms for customer-specific manufacturing applications. The ideal candidate is creative, technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative environment alongside controls engineers, technicians, project managers, vendors, and customers.\nResponsibilities\nModify, configure, and support established automation equipment platforms, robotic cells, tooling, guarding, and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) to meet customer production requirements \nDevelop complete 2D and 3D mechanical designs, assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings \nCreate system layouts, installation drawings, and manufacturing documentation \nSupport automation concept development and feasibility reviews with the sales and engineering teams \nPerform robotic reach studies, sizing analysis, and mechanical integration planning \nSelect and specify mechanical and pneumatic components for procurement and system integration \nCollaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure component quality, performance, and compatibility \nSupport projects from initial concept through build, debug, installation, and customer startup \nAssist in troubleshooting technical and mechanical design challenges during project execution \nMaintain project documentation, BOMs, and engineering records within SAP and PDM systems \nParticipate in project reviews to help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget \nResearch and stay current on emerging automation technologies, robotics, and manufacturing trends \nLeverage and improve existing automation platform designs while supporting customer-specific adaptations and continuous product improvements \nBuild strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams \nSupport cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, and Electro-Mechanical Technicians\nOther duties as assigned\nQualifications\nAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field \nRecent graduates encouraged to apply\nStrong 2D and 3D CAD and mechanical design experience \nSolidWorks and PDM experience preferred \nCreo experience a plus\nAutoCAD experience is a plus \n\nExperience designing or supporting automated equipment, robotic systems, tooling, or custom machinery preferred \nStrong understanding of fabrication methods including sheet metal, weldments, machining, and assembly processes \nAbility to transform conceptual ideas into practical, manufacturable solutions \nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills \nEffective communication and project coordination abilities \nSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams including Sales, Automation Controls Engineering, and shop floor Electro-Mechanical Technicians\nProficient
