The Buyer position is responsible for applying those basic elements to the role of purchasing for manufacturing. This includes maintaining an open line of communication with multiple suppliers; and, working cross-functionally within the company on topics such as new product sourcing, supply issue resolution, inventory availability, product quality improvement and cost reductions by negotiating with suppliers. Our buyer position reports directly to the Plant Manager and dotted line to the Corporate Purchasing Manager.\nResponsibilities\nEstablish & maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and internal customers;\nCollaborate with purchasing and estimating teams to identify key and preferred suppliers for key categories of spend that support business unit and corporate objectives;\nSupport direction and strategies regarding supplier demand forecasting, supplier capacity planning, supply base inventory management, supplier replenishment and procurement transactions;\nPlan transitions for all new finished goods to the business;\nExecute standard purchasing processes and strategies including procure-to-pay definition and optimization;\nManage supplier on time delivery (OTD) performance, maintain system data integrity and measure performance on related key indicators (examples: past due purchase orders, open PO acknowledgements, PO expedites, non-conforming material return cycle time, and supplier invoice resolution);\nProactively identify, communicate, and resolve risks in anticipation of delivery or inventory replenishment delays prior to impact on the business;\nAbility to apply creative problem solving solutions and work collaboratively;\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nAssociates Degree in related field OR 3 years related experience in a purchasing function within a similar working environment;\n3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is required;\nDemonstrated skills in problem solving, analytics, contract negotiation and project management;\nEffective verbal and written communication skills;\nHighly organized and able to prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously;\nProven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast paced environment;\nAbility to travel to key suppliers for onsite visits and supply chain development, occasionally.\nERP/MRP User -
