Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Weld Lead is primarily responsible for assisting the Supervisor in overseeing both the manual and robotic weld department. This person may perform all types of welding, as well as give instruction to the welders. This role is responsible for acting as a good role model for the rest of the development and for keeping the department organized and clean.\nResponsibilities\nAbility to perform all essential functions of the robotic welder and manual welder\nAssists the Supervisor in directing the work activities of the welders\nWorks with both the robotic and manual welders to ensure parts are made correctly and schedule is being followed.\nKeeps informed of any changes and new procedures throughout the day to stay on schedule.\nCommunicates information, assists in resolving problems and supports continuous improvement initiatives.\nMonitors and maintains all equipment, machines and supplies within the department. Reports shortages to the department supervisor and performs necessary preventative maintenance.\nAssists with cost savings, continuous improvements and more efficient ways to run the weld operations.\nFollows all company rules, policies and regulations; ensuring compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.\nMaintains company safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.\nReads job specifications (e.g. blueprints, quality control plans and/or traveler notes) to determine type of welding and material requirements.\nUses equipment and supplies to perform work in accordance with operational standards.\nPerforms prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.\nMaintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.\nMay perform other related duties or work at different workstations as production needs require.\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nHigh school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.\nAn understanding of welding fundamentals\nBasic welding experience and/or training\nBasic knowledge of Mig Welding Equipment\nSuccessful completion of internal weld test\nContributes to identifying problems and implementing appropriate countermeasures.\nMust have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with management and peers openly.\nAbility to efficiently assist in leading a team and coordinate work with other departments.\nAptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.\nKnowledge of welding equipment and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance\nAbility to read and interpret documents like blueprints, welding symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.\nBasic Computer knowledge.\nMust be able to help in ALL areas of the weld department, when needed.\nRequired Knowledge and Abilities:\nPrevious experience working within a highly technical environment.\nStrong basic math skills.\nPrevious experience working within a weld department.\nPrevious forklift experience.\nExposure to a Lean manufacturing environment.\nGeneral understanding of Metric and Standard systems.\nAssociates degree in related technical field preferred. \nPrior lead experience, preferably in a weld department.\nMicrosoft Office skills.
