The Travel Trainer will assess for appropriateness for independent public transportation use, create personalize lesson plans, and educate individuals on a wide range of travel skills including: trip planning, street crossing, bus and train travel, map and schedule reading, and safety skills, while utilizing public transportation. The Travel Trainer will also research, identify, create, and present custom presentations for new referral program opportunities within the community.\nLocation: 3851 N Steele St, Unit 1479 Denver, CO 80205\nRegular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, business needs may require occasional work outside of these hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.\nWhat you’ll do:\nComplete in-person intake and assessment for each applicant\nMake determinations whether or not an applicant is qualified to receive training based on the results of the assessment(s)\nCreate and provide one-on-one, individualized field trainingDemonstrate and instruct individuals on transit skills\nDemonstrate and instruct individuals on how to travel routes including navigation and way-finding strategies\nInstruct individuals on self-advocacy\n\nCreate lesson plans that are appropriate for individuals of different learning levels\nResearch and identify opportunities to enhance the referral program within the community, creating custom presentations for this outreach\nConduct group presentations\nEstablish relationships with professionals in the field, community and advocacy organizations\nSchedule training at the time and location of the specific routes requested\nConduct outreach to develop materials\nProvide in class and in-the-field training to professionals\nComplete all reports and paperwork including but not limited to; initial intake, goal setting and plan, progressive evaluation, pre and post-test, final and follow-up report, satisfaction survey\nMust conform to MTM’s HIPAA standards \nWhat you’ll need:\nExperience, Education & Certifications:\n High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent\nMust have five (5) years’ experience assessing people with disabilities in how to use and navigate accessible public transportation to include bus and rail\nMust have two (2) years’ experience working with clients with physical and/or cognitive functional disabilities \nFamiliarity with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)\nSkills:\nDemonstrated training skills, comfortable leading groups of people\nStrong interpersonal skills that allow for effective working relationships\nIntermediate level of proficiency or above with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook\nExcellent communication skills\nExcellent organizational and multi-tasking skills\nAbility to work flexible hours, in all weather conditions\nAbility to maintain high level of confidentiality \nEven better if you have...\nAssociate’s degree in Education, Human Services, or Healthcare preferred\nExperience working with disability and/or community advocacy organizations, preferred\nFamiliarity with the transit agency system, preferred\nWhat’s in it for you:\nHealth and Life Insurance Plans \nDental and Vision Plans \n401(k) with a company match \nPaid Time Off and Holiday Pay \nMaternity/Paternity Leave \nCasual Dress Environment \nTuition Reimbursement \nMTM Perks Discount Program \nLeadership Mentoring Opportunities \nAt MTM, we believe that taking care of our employees-and the people they love-is the foundation of a healthy, thriving organization.
