Our products are deployed in large numbers globally and assist our customers in managing critical water infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a passion for developing embedded software systems; a keen eye for reliable embedded software design, and the methodologies needed to achieve it; and a tenacity for problem solving and debugging, leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of quality and performance. Collaborating with internal stakeholders and a multi-disciplinary engineering team, they will help to guide our products through every step of the design lifecycle: from inception all the way through sustaining engineering.\nRequired Education & Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical & electronics engineering, computer science, or similar degree\n6+ years of experience in firmware development\n4+ years of experience with embedded C programming language\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Competencies:\nWorking knowledge of the internal architecture of MCUs to enable making use of a variety of peripherals\nWorking knowledge of hardware to facilitate integration efforts, including reading hardware schematics and using test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and power supplies\nAbility to understand binary protocols and comfortable working with binary data\nExperience with multi-threaded programming\nFamiliarity with Linux\nExperience with source code management/versioning tools and practices\nFamiliarity or interest in using AI-assisted coding and testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar) to accelerate development and improve quality\nAbility to produce detailed technical documentation\nStrong problem solving and analytical skills\nDemonstrably excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills\nAbility to work both independently and as a team contributor\nCandidate must be eligible to travel to the United States and maintain a valid passport\nThese are considered assets:\nExperience with audio signal processing\nExperience writing production code on Digital Signal Processors\nExperience with Python and MATLAB/Octave\nWorking experience with FreeRTOS\nExperience with ARM Cortex-M family of MCUs\nExperience with GPS/GNSS and cellular modem modules\nExperience with battery operated and low power applications\nExperience with TCP/IP\nExperience within an Agile development environment\nExperience applying AI/LLM-based tools for embedded code generation, code review, or automated test case generation\nResponsibilities:\nProvide input to design architecture and system requirements\nImplement detailed designs based on provided requirements\nProvide advice on technical problems and review project work for technical accuracy and adequacy\nFirmware (embedded software) development based on system requirements. This includes code development, unit test development, as well as design and development documentation\nDevelopment level testing throughout the implementation process which includes code debugging and participating in code reviews\nDebugging code by incorporating hardware signals and lab equipment\nProduction level code debugging to find the root cause of and fix bugs that occur infrequently and only on statistically significant sample sizes (1000+ devices)\nProduce well documented and easy to read code\nSupport products from release to quality assurance through to field trials and production including fixing bugs reported by QA\nGeneration of BSPs and chip drivers\nLeverage AI-assisted development and testing tools (e.g., code generation, code review, and automated test generation assistants) to improve development velocity, code quality, and test coverage\nParticipate in an Agile development environment\nOther duties as assigned\nWorking Conditions:\nOffice Environment\nTravel up to 1-2 weeks per year\n\nSalary/Pay Range:\n$80,026.00-$110,009.00 CAD\n\nThe compensation range above reflects a good-faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment as of the date of posting.
