You will lead a team responsible for building scalable data models, analytics solutions and reporting tools that give teams easier access to reliable insights.\nThis opportunity is open to applicants based in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria, with remote work available.\nWhat you will be doing\nLead and empower your team\nLead a team of BI, Data and Analytics specialists.\nEstablish clear expectations and support the team in delivering accurate, scalable and valuable analytics solutions.\nRemove obstacles that could affect delivery.\nEncourage collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.\nMentor team members and help strengthen Mukuru’s overall analytics capabilities.\nTurn business needs into data solutions\nPartner with stakeholders across different departments and levels of the business.\nUnderstand business challenges and translate them into practical reporting, modelling and analytics solutions.\nUse data to uncover insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.\nPresent complex findings in a way that is clear, relevant and easy for different audiences to understand.\nBuild solutions that scale\nDesign, develop and maintain high-performing data models.\nBuild semantic reporting layers and reports that enable self-service access to data.\nProfile and validate data to ensure its accuracy, completeness, consistency and relevance.\nCreate dashboards and visualisations that improve the visibility and accessibility of business information.\nApply DevOps practices such as version control, automated testing and continuous integration and deployment.\nOwn delivery\nTake ownership of allocated BI and analytics projects from planning through to implementation.\nDevelop and maintain project roadmaps.\nCommunicate project progress, risks, blockers and issues proactively.\nSupport and train users on BI tools, reports and the interpretation of analytical findings.\nContribute to the development of Mukuru’s data warehousing, governance and analytics standards. \nWhat you will bring\nWe are looking for someone who combines technical BI expertise with confident, people-centred leadership.\nEssential experience and qualifications\nGrade 12 or an equivalent qualification.\nA qualification in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance or Business Analytics, or equivalent relevant experience.\nAt least six years of experience in Data Analytics or Business Intelligence.\nExperience successfully delivering BI or analytics projects that created measurable business impact.\nAt least three years of experience leading BI, Data or Analytics specialists.\nStrong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.\nExperience adapting technical information for executive, operational, technical and non-technical audiences.\nStrong dashboard development and data visualisation experience using modern BI tools such as Power BI.\nExtensive experience developing semantic models for enterprise reporting.\nStrong data-modelling expertise, including dimensional modelling.\nAdvanced SQL and Excel skills. \nAn advantage\nExperience using R or Python for data analytics.\nKnowledge of analytical techniques such as forecasting, scenario analysis, segmentation, regression, decision trees and time-series analysis.\nExperience with cloud analytics platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Synapse or BigQuery.\nFamiliarity with DevOps practices and tools, including version control, automated testing, infrastructure as code and CI/CD.\nExperience in financial services, consulting, retail, technology or another high-growth environment. \nThe kind of leader who will thrive here\nYou are likely to enjoy this role if you:\nAre commercially curious and want to understand what drives business performance.\nCan balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.\nEnjoy bringing clarity to complex information.\nLead with accountability while supporting the growth of others.\nTake initiative and remain focused when priorities shift.\nCare about data quality and pay close attention to detail.\nBelieve that sharing knowledge makes the entire team stronger.\nHave a growth mindset and actively invest in your own development.\nI am sure you are reading this job description and meet majority of the criteria BUT you may also still not be 100% comfortable in applying.
