This role involves handling financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting the finance team to ensure the smooth operation of financial activities within the renewable energy sector.\nDuties and responsibilities\nAccounts Payable Management\nObtain completed vendor forms for new vendors together with required documents and check that all is in order.\nProcess and verify invoices for accuracy and completeness.\nEnsure proper coding of invoices to the appropriate cost centres and general ledger accounts.\nMatch invoices to purchase orders.\nPayment Processing\nPrepare and process electronic transfers and payments.\nEnsure timely payment of all invoices, credit notes, and other financial obligations.\nCoordinate with the finance team to prioritize payments based on cash flow and due dates.\nSupplier Relations\nCommunicate with suppliers regarding invoice discrepancies, payment status, and other inquiries.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records, including contact information and payment terms.\nResolve any issues related to supplier accounts and payments promptly.\nSupplier Account Reconciliation\nReconcile supplier statements to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.\nInvestigate and resolve any discrepancies between supplier statements and company records.\nBank Account Reconciliation\nProcessing of bank accounts for several entities.\nReconcile bank accounts to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.\nInvestigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and company records.\nFinancial Record Keeping & Reporting\nMaintain accurate and organized accounts payable files and documentation.\nEnsure all financial transactions are recorded in the accounting system in a timely manner.\nAssess the requirement for raising accruals by reviewing unrecorded liabilities, cut-off of expenses, outstanding supplier invoices, and recurring monthly obligations.\nProcess monthly recurring and non-recurring Accruals.\nAssist with balance sheet reconciliations as required.\nAssist in the preparation of financial reports and month-end closing activities.\nAssist with other finance-related tasks and projects as needed including BBBEE audit and annual financial year end audit.\nCompliance and Internal Controls\nAdhere to company policies, procedures, and internal controls related to accounts payable.\nPrepare VAT reconciliations and returns for several companies.\nEnsure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.\nParticipate in audits and provide necessary documentation and support.\nRequired skills and education background\nDiploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable, creditors, or finance-related roles.\nStrong experience in accounting principles, accounts payable processes, bank recons and financial record-keeping.\nExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.\nExperience
