PPE, and services required for mining operations.\nObtain and evaluate supplier quotations, tenders, and proposals.\nPrepare purchase orders and ensure accurate processing within the procurement system.\nNegotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and service agreements to achieve optimal value.\nEnsure the timely placement of orders to prevent operational disruptions.\nSupplier ManagementDevelop and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers and service providers.\nMonitor supplier performance against agreed service levels, quality standards, and delivery commitments.\nParticipate in supplier evaluations, audits, and performance reviews.\nResolve supplier-related issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, and contract disputes.\nInventory and Stock Control SupportWork closely with stores and warehouse personnel to maintain optimal inventory levels.\nMonitor stock availability and reorder critical items to support uninterrupted mining operations.\nIdentify slow-moving, obsolete, and excess stock and recommend corrective actions.\nCollaborate with operational departments to forecast procurement requirements.\nCost Management and Budget ControlIdentify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.\nEnsure purchases are aligned with approved budgets and procurement plans.\nTrack commodity and market trends that may impact procurement costs.\nContribute to annual budgeting and procurement planning processes.\nContract AdministrationAssist in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of supplier contracts.\nEnsure contracts are adhered to by both suppliers and internal stakeholders.\nMonitor contract expiry dates and facilitate renewals where required.\nMaintain accurate contract records and documentation.\nCompliance and GovernanceEnsure procurement activities comply with company policies, mining legislation, and regulatory requirements.\nMaintain ethical procurement practices and avoid conflicts of interest.\nSupport internal and external audits by providing accurate procurement records.\nEnsure compliance with BBBEE, local supplier development, and other applicable procurement requirements where relevant.\nStakeholder EngagementLiaise with engineering, maintenance, operations, finance, and project teams to understand procurement needs.\nProvide procurement advice and support to internal customers.\nCommunicate order status, delivery schedules, and supply risks to relevant stakeholders.\nAssist in resolving urgent operational procurement requirements.\nReporting and AdministrationMaintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, and purchasing documentation.\nGenerate procurement reports relating to expenditure, supplier performance, savings, and purchasing activities.\nEnsure all procurement transactions are correctly recorded and authorized.\nAnalyse purchasing data to support strategic decision-making.\nRisk ManagementIdentify and mitigate supply chain risks that may impact mining operations.\nDevelop alternative sourcing options for critical goods and services.\nMonitor supplier financial stability and operational capability.\nParticipate in business continuity and emergency procurement planning.\nSkills required for the job:\nMust have experience working in the mining, drilling, and exploration industries.\nMust have round the hole and exploration drilling experience/knowledge.\nCandidate must be able to obtain competitive quotations from suppliers, negotiate prices, place orders, and arrange couriers and collections to ensure that all required items are delivered on time.\nKnowledge of mining equipment.\nGood negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.\nComputer literacy, including email, Excel, and purchasing systems.\nExperience arranging couriers, collections, and transport.\nAbility to manage multiple orders and follow up on deliveries.\nSource suppliers for mining equipment, exploration drilling equipment, spare parts, and consumables.\nPurchase mechanical parts, tools and equipment for servicing and repairing of motor vehicles.\n
