This role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems, standards, and processes for new ,existing and service programs. Establish initial quality parameters and ensure quality is maintained throughout the product lifecycle. Provide timely customer support, respond promptly to quality concerns, and drive effective problem resolution. The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement, reducing defects, and supporting overall operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.\nKey Responsibilities and Authorities:\nActively participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including drawing and design reviews, to ensure feasibility and alignment with customer requirements.\nSupport program reviews and cross-functional meetings to confirm readiness for launch and ongoing compliance with customer specifications.\nParticipate in Engineering Change Notice activities (ECN), ensuring timely updates to quality documentation, visual standards, and PPAP deliverables.\nReview dimensional reports (CMM), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies for new and existing programs; develop and track action plans to address gaps.\nParticipate and support gauge design, validation, and approval activities, ensuring compliance with customer requirements for accuracy, timing, and GR&R.\nCoordinate and lead special studies and investigations related to customer complaints, internal defects, or process concerns, driving actions toward zero defects.\nServe as a primary quality contact for customers, providing timely communication, updates, and issue resolution support.\nAuthority to communicate with customers and suppliers.\nParticipate in milestone and launch readiness reviews, ensuring quality deliverables are met on time.\nPrepare and support all aspects of customer PPAP, including quality documentation, capability studies, and validation requirements.\nEnsure all products (manufactured and purchased) meet current engineering levels, specifications, and customer requirements.\nSupport supplier PPAP submissions in accordance with customer and internal requirements.\nDevelop, implement, and maintain Control Plans (prototype, pre-launch, and production) and obtain customer approvals.\nSupport cross-functional development of DFMEA, PFMEA, process flow diagrams, and standardized work instructions.\nLead root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) for internal and external quality issues; implement and verify corrective and preventive actions.\nGenerate and present customer-specific quality reports, ensuring transparency and timely escalation of issues.\nLead and participate in deviation/non-conformance (DMN) processes, including containment, disposition, and follow-up.\nConduct layered process audits (LPA) and ensure timely closure of non-conformances.\nDisposition non-conforming material and drive continuous improvement through cross-functional team (CFT) engagement.\nSupport warranty analysis and field return investigations, ensuring lessons learned are implemented into production.\nParticipate in operator training for new programs, ensuring understanding of quality standards and inspection requirements.\nSupport product validation testing and the development/implementation of error-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions.\nDevelop and maintain plant visual standards, including boundary samples.\nPromote and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen and plant-level improvement programs.\nEnsure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.\nSupport internal and external audits (customer, registrar, and layered audits) and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.\nMaintain accurate quality records and documentation in alignment with traceability and retention requirements.\nDrive a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across operations.\nWork Environment:\n50% Office, 50% Manufacturing floor environment\nOccasional travel to customer or sister plant locations and possibly suppliers\nMust be able to wear appropriate PPE and work in a production setting\nundefined\nBasic Requirements and Competencies:\nCanadian-issued or recognized for equivalency University Degree or College Diploma in Industrial, Mechanical , or Quality Engineering\nCertified Quality Engineer (CQE) would be an asset.\nThree to Five years of working experience in a related field or discipline\nSelf-motivated, able to make sound judgments and work independently towards successful task completion\nWell organized, detail oriented and able to independently plan day-to-day and future work activities\nHands-on job style, being involved and helping fellow Multimatic team members investigate and resolve issues\nAbility to read drawings and specifications, understand GD&T, research requirements for clarity and correctness \nShall be responsible for ensuring equipment and processes meet regulatory and corporate Health and Safety, ergonomic, and environmental requirements\nGood technical report writing abilities, excellent understanding of email writing/audience etiquette\nExcellent problem-solving techniques and methods, ability to collect and analyze data, document open issues, prepare action plans and follow up through to completion\nAbility to manage tasks in fast fast-paced, dynamic, timing-critical work environment while being a team player within the department and division\nExcellent communication skills, ability to read, write, and speak English fluently\nComputer literacy and a sound knowledge of MS Office applications and Outlook. \nAbility to successfully interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.\nThis job posting is for an existing vacancy.
