MTC provides advanced design, simulation, testing and prototyping services to Multimatic’s production divisions and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), niche vehicle manufacturers, motorsports organizations, military equipment contractors and consumer products companies.\nMTC houses key engineering, testing and development capabilities under one roof, enabling rapid turnaround and tight integration between departments (vehicle systems engineering, production engineering, predictive methods, product testing and validation, composites, fabrication, and prototyping). Additional specialized services utilize MTC’s full-vehicle multi-post test rig, and a proprietary vehicle dynamics simulator. These services are further enhanced by the capabilities of a fully-equipped motorsports department.\nThe Vehicle Systems Department at MTC is a group of multi-disciplinary experienced engineers that lead high-performance vehicle development projects, as well as drive R&D activities involving complex systems integration. Working in this group entails working at the leading edge of technology, with exposure to advanced lightweight structural design (composites, additive manufacturing, magnesium), electromechanical integration (electric machines, thermal considerations, cable routing, sensing) and vehicle-level trade-off assessments (aerodynamics, occupant safety, regulatory).\nJob Summary\nThe Vehicle Systems Department is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer, with skills in complex systems integration and full vehicle system development. This role is suitable for high-performance individuals with a successful history of working in fast-paced environments. As our company undergoes a significant expansion, a successful individual would be one who welcomes change and has tremendous skills in collaboration and communication with stakeholders.\nKey Duties and Responsibilities\nConduct comprehensive systems integration trade-off studies to meet system requirements; for example, the candidate would be expected to study the effect of subsystem design decisions (e.g. subframe, suspension control arm) on overall vehicle crash requirements, or to optimize the system so that competing mass/cost/performance requirements are met.\nUsing exceptional communication skills, be the voice of engineering when negotiating with stakeholders on requirements and trade-offs.\nConduct calculations (Excel, MATLAB/Python) to ensure systems are robust against noise factors\nDerive and manage subsystem requirements based on customer requirements for vehicle systems (e.g. high level performance target, to aero loads, to active aero component design).\nTake deep-dives into supplier/customer/regulatory specifications and ensure they are cascaded down to design direction (e.g. regulatory requirements for crash, to detail design and packaging of crash rail)\nRecommend and lead component and vehicle level testing to verify and validate systems. Strong understanding of DOE.\nSelect appropriate manufacturing processes for parts, considering production volume/cost, aesthetics (when applicable) and requirements (structural, thermal, aero). With these processes selected, the candidate would be expected to independently design in 3D (CATIA, NX), and draft manufacturing prints in 2D (full GD&T knowledge is expected). The candidate’s 3D modeling capability should be exceptional.\nBe an eager and proactive participant in prototype builds, and review progress with an eye for product and process improvement.\nDisseminate knowledge to other team members, building up the team from within.\nWork with a complex international team to make things happen the first time, traveling as necessary to get the job done.\nSkills and Background Required\n Minimum 8 years of directly relevant work experience developing hardware in mission-critical applications. High degree of preference is given to candidates with motorsports experience, although sufficient experience in other industries with significant technical complexity would be considered.\nCollege or university degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechatronics, mechanical or automotive engineering).\nHigh degree of competence in GD&T, specifically in cascading assembly tolerances to component requirements.\nHigh degree of competence in designing for precision machining, as well as comfort with design best practices for welding, stamping, forging, casting, injection moulding, and cold-forming processes.\nKnowledge in rotating machinery, including basic bearing selection based on structural loads and temperature conditions.\nStrong knowledge in solid mechanics and dynamics, demonstrated by knowledge of at least 3 of the following: non-linear implicit FEA of metallic components, fatigue, vehicle dynamics, orthotropic material modeling, non-metallic material behaviour (viscoelasticity, etc.), crash & explicit modeling.\nExpert knowledge in either NX or CATIA. In exceptional circumstances, candidates with experience in other CAD packages, like Creo and SolidWorks would be considered.\nProven track record of being able to perform under pressure while balancing ambiguous and often competing requirements.\nHistory of leadership by virtue of excellent listening skills, presentation quality and an ability to influence across an organization at multiple levels.\nAs a result of an intuition built over years of real-world experience, an ability to lead design risk assessment activities (DFMEA), while contributing to process risk assessments (PFMEA).\nExcellent skills in verbal communication and negotiation.\nPreferred Skills to Stand Out\nClear track record of project management experience, with extensive knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Project, PowerBI, Atlassian Jira and Atlassian Confluence.\nExceptional candidates would have MATLAB and Simulink experience, specifically as they relate to data analysis and control systems. Experience in Model-Based Design of mechatronic systems is a big bonus.\nExpert knowledge in rotating machinery, including bearing selection, grease selection, shaft/housing fit design and accommodation of non-similar materials (e.g. aluminum/steel).\nExtensive experience in Multiphysics FEA involving structural, thermal, and electromagnetic effects.\nExperience with additive manufacturing and composites.\nExperience in a motorsports setting, either in terms of hands-on technical support or in a design role.\nPractical hands-on experience with automotive service and repair.\nNote that this position involves working with hardware (full vehicles, prototype assemblies, occasional track support), and hence the candidate should be prepared to workon-site at our Markham location.\nThis job posting is for an existing vacancy. The total cash compensation range for this position is expected to be:\n$84,000.00 - $134,000.00To learn more about Multimatic, check out our youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psOjJIh3t90\nIf you are interested in this position, apply by sending us your cover letter and resume.\nWe thank all interested candidates in advance; however, only individuals selected for interviews will be contacted.\nAs part of our commitment to ensuring our employment practices are fair, accessible, and inclusive of persons with disabilities, recruitment-related accommodations for disabilities, are available upon request throughout the recruitment and assessment process for applicants with disabilities.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7544,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":8,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Canada","iso":"CA","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Sports","Motorsports"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-01T00:45:59Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":6,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.222,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":164,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:7","stale_co","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-13T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":94130,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/multimatic-senior-design-engineer-vehicle-systems","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/multimatic-senior-design-engineer-vehicle-systems.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-14T01:11:35Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1862,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-15T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":1808389},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=1808389"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fmultimatic-senior-design-engineer-vehicle-systems"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fmultimatic-senior-design-engineer-vehicle-systems"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fmultimatic-senior-design-engineer-vehicle-systems"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/multimatic-senior-design-engineer-vehicle-systems\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fmultimatic-senior-design-engineer-vehicle-systems"}]}
