Multimatic New Haven is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at any time for this position.\nSUMMARY\nIncrease Company profitability by providing well designed equipment, tools and fixtures for future programs and current production tools and support the quotation process.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES \nProvide input and direction in the sourcing, design, construction, PPAP and Launch of new tools, fixtures and equipment for future programs and current changes.\nAssist Tool-Room personnel and/or vendors in solving problems arising from production processes, tool tryouts and launching of new programs.\nEstimate, schedule and execute all engineering changes of tooling, cost savings, etc... Coordinate these changes with Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance departments to ensure timely try-out and phase in periods to meet production schedule requirements or customer’s delivery dates.\nProvide technical support for product development and design.\nUse technology on new and current processes and tools to meet or exceed customer specifications.\nStay informed of latest technologies with respect to tooling. Report on and implement those ideas, which will be of benefit to IMD.\nEstablish new and superior sourcing methods for new tooling, which will insure capability and improve, cost effectiveness of tools for the program (prototype and/or production). Assist Program Managers to prepare internal quotes for new/existing programs and all engineering changes by issuing, coordinating and proposing tooling and gauge suppliers.\nWork with production to implement Poka-Yoke methods.\nWork with Quality Engineer and others to establish characteristics and achievable tolerances for SPC.\nWork in compliance with TS16949 Standards.\nWill work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA and will be accountable for specific Health and Safety responsibilities, as outlined under “Safety and Environmental Responsibilities, Office and Productions Employees.\nOnce aware of a product or process non-conformance, stop further processing and inform area supervisor or manager responsible.\nMaintains due diligence in regards to environmental matters, minimize any potentially harmful accidents and work in compliance with ISO 14001. Will follow the environmental guidelines.\nConduct annual tool audits internal/external on all customer owned tooling to ensure it is functioning and is being maintained in accordance with MNH tooling standards.\nPerform other duties as determined by the Engineering Manager and/or General Manger (AGM included).\nQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have 5+ years’ experience with assembly operations\n3. Five years previous experience in cold stamping. Hot stamping a plus.\n4. Must have extensive knowledge & experience with design, development and implementation of assembly fixtures & assembly tooling\n5. Must possess effective communication skills with all levels of associates\n6. Must be a “hands-on” person on plant floor\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE\nExperience as a tool and die maker a plus\nPrefer Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.\nAbility to interact with all levels of employees in the organization, customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, engineers, etc.\nNegotiation skills.\nExcellent knowledge of the assembly department and press department equipment.\nComputer skills in the area of spreadsheets, word processing, CAD, CMM, design and data bases.\nGood interpersonal skills\nTravel Requirements - as needed\nLANGUAGE SKILLS\nAbility to read and interpret documents and statures from jurisdictional agencies and governmental units, procedure manuals, and specification manuals. Ability to write instructions, plant operating procedures, and routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, regulatory agencies, and employees of the organization.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS\nAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply basic concepts of physical science.\nREASONING ABILITY\nAbility to apply common sense understanding and create instructions from technical data or statutes furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
