This role suits someone with a well rounded background in medtech who is fluent in design transfer, creating rigorous documentation, and managing small-scale manufacturing operations.\nResponsibilities\nLead design transfer from R&D prototypes to in-house pilot production: convert one-off prototype builds into controlled, repeatable processes a technician can execute independently\n\nDesign and build fixturing, select and implement new equipment on our pilot line\n\nDevelop, release, and maintain build documentation - work instructions, BOMs, LHRs, assembly drawings, inspection criteria, and test procedures. Train manufacturing team on new content.\n\nCollaborate with R&D to drive DFX improvements\n\nCoordinate with Quality to ensure compliance with industry standards and implement risk-based quality control for products\n\nSchedule and coordinate builds with the onsite manufacturing team; troubleshoot issues in real time\n\nManage inventory and kitting with technician(s); partner with Supply Chain/Procurement Team on sourcing, part qualification, and vendor management\n\nTrack yield, first-pass quality, and build data; drive root cause analysis and implement improvements based on data\n\nOwn handoff to contract manufacturing in partnership with our Supply Chain team: create documentation packages, and manage the transition as volume or maturity outpaces internal capacity\n\nQualifications\nBachelor's in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent experience)\n\n1-4 years in manufacturing/NPI engineering, ideally in single-use medical device, diagnostics, or biopharma consumables manufacturing\n\nExperience with design transfer, design controls, and documentation practices\n\nExperience with process/equipment validation concepts (IQ/OQ/PQ) is a plus, even if not required in our current environment\n\nComfortable working hands-on with technicians, reading CAD/drawings, and working in a cleanroom manufacturing environment\n\nExperience qualifying and working with contract manufacturers or suppliers\n\nStatistical tools (SPC, capability studies) and risk management\n\nSuperb communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment\n\nExceptional organization skills and proven ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously\n\nAdditional preferred experience:\nPrior experience at a hardware startup or robotics company\n\nFamiliarity with biomanufacturing or lab automation\n\nExperience working in regulated environments (e.g., GMP, FDA 21 CFR 820.30, ISO 13485)\n\nExperience with the manufacturing of precision machine components (this role is primarily consumables based, but may have some overlap with capital equipment manufacturing)\nPhysical & Working Conditions\nAbility to reach, stoop, crouch, and kneel, including entering and working inside a robotic cluster for maintenance, cleaning, or intervention\n\nAbility to lift up to 25 lbs (equipment, parts, tools) and up to 5 lbs overhead\n\nManual dexterity to use hand tools, manage cabling, and perform mechanical adjustments\n\nWork primarily in a manufacturing area adjacent to a lab; must follow strict safety protocols (e.g., BSL-2) and maintain situational awareness\n\nPotential exposure to hazardous materials, including biological agents and cryogenics, while servicing equipment\n\nRequired use of PPE (cleanroom gowns, gloves, safety glasses, etc.) for extended periods\n\nStandard work schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call support for critical issues or time-sensitive manufacturing needs\n\nPerks & Benefits\nTotal Rewards & Life at Multiply Labs\nCompetitive Compensation: Salary range of $90,000 - $180,000 plus meaningful early-stage equity.
