Reporting to the Data & BI Lead, the successful candidate will take ownership of the technical detail of requirements gathering, including use case development and source to target mapping, working closely with the Business Product Owner to translate agreed business priorities and outcomes into clear, delivery-ready requirements. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of collaborating across team boundaries; experience with SQL, Power BI and Azure DevOps (ADO); and familiarity with Databricks from a business user perspective.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nWork directly with business stakeholders to elicit, clarify, and document detailed data requirements, translating business needs into clear, structured and delivery-ready requirements with acceptance criteria\nProduce and maintain source-to-target mappings, data definitions and transformation/business rules for data pipelines and Lakehouse ingestion\nAct as the technical liaison between the Data & BI team and IT, improving handover quality and time to value\nPartner with data engineers to ensure business and data requirements are appropriately reflected within the Databricks Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)\nOwn and maintain requirements and backlog content within Azure DevOps (ADO), ensuring requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, data lineage and supporting documentation are sufficiently defined for refinement and delivery, and providing impact analysis to support Business Product Owner decisions\nSupport UAT and data quality validation, including preparation of business validation scenarios and assessment of delivered outcomes against agreed requirements\nCollaborate within the wider organisation, working fluidly across teams and regions.\nHelp establish and embed repeatable standards/templates for requirements documentation across the wider Data & BI function\n\nCompetencies:\nDrives results (we think big) - you consistently achieve results even under tough circumstances, with the organisation’s performance in the front of your mind. You also continue to operate effectively even when things are uncertain and the way forward is unclear. \nPersuades (we are clear and authentic) - you use clear and compelling arguments to gain the support, enthusiasm and commitment of others, whilst ensuring you take time to actively listen to the diversity of views and opinions.\nKey Skills & Experience:\nProfessional experience in a (Business) Data Analyst role within the insurance industry\nIntermediate to advanced SQL skills, with proven experience building data products in a modern data environment (preferably Azure Databricks and Power BI)\nStrong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) for requirements and backlog management within an Agile delivery environment\nAbility to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of existing, new and emerging technologies that enable and drive new business designs and models\nExperience working with both Delegated Authority and Large Single Risk/Specialty stakeholders, understanding the different data and process dynamics of each\nStrong collaborator, able to work effectively within a close-knit team as well as across the wider organisation\nWorking appreciation of cloud computing platforms such as Azure Databricks and other Azure components\nProven ability to produce high-quality business and data requirements documentation and provide clarity to stakeholders\nProven experience acting as a business-to-data/technology translator, supporting business and IT delivery from a data requirements perspective\nHave an outcome and solution-driven mindset as well as being able to identify opportunities to optimise and simplify existing data-related processes\nComfortable operating in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment, working with Business Product Owners and IT delivery teams through backlog refinement and relevant delivery ceremonies\nUnderstanding of Data Governance principles and concepts (DAMA, DMBOK)\n\nDesired Qualifications and Educational Background:\nBachelor’s degree in a scientific, mathematical, technical or business discipline and/or\nRelevant professional qualifications\nSustained good performance in a data-centric role over a number of years\n\nRegulatory & Conduct Requirements:\nIn addition to the responsibilities set out above, the Business Data Analyst role will also become responsible for:\n\nEnsuring compliance with Munich Re’s Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules\nEqual Opportunities\n At Munich Re, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion foster innovation and resilience and enable us to act braver and better.
