Close contacts are very important. \n\nAbout the role:We - GC/NA4.2.91 located in London and responsible for property business via London brokers, targeting the US, Caribbean, Australia, NZ, and Latam - are looking for an experienced, engaged and motivated underwriter to strengthen our team.\n\nYou will work in the London office and write large and complex risks across all general property industry segments, with particular focus on the existing and upcoming facultative facilities and Nat Cat exposure.\n\nThis is an INTERNAL ROLE only, which would either be a rotation (2+2) or with a view to a permanent role.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nUnderwriting, e.g. assessment and pricing of risks and exposures, analysis of policy wordings and R/I certificates etc., of complex property risks in line with given authorities and guidelines\nOptimizing, developing and maintaining a profitable portfolio including consideration of accumulation on a per risk and portfolio basis\nEstablishing, expanding and maintaining client and broker business relationships including client/broker visits\nContributing to the development of underwriting and portfolio strategies including proactive implementation\nWorking on market, industry and portfolio analyses\nIdentifying new trends for specific industries and client needs, providing ideas to generate new business opportunities and products\nParticipating in and driving initiatives, working groups and projects\nEnsuring a collaborative, transparent and productive cooperation with relevant interfaces and stakeholders throughout all divisions and regions\n\nCompetencies:\nDrives results (we think big) - you consistently achieve results even under tough circumstances, with the organisation’s performance in the front of your mind. You also continue to operate effectively even when things are uncertain and the way forward is unclear. \nPersuades (we are clear and authentic) - you use clear and compelling arguments to gain the support, enthusiasm and commitment of others, whilst ensuring you take time to actively listen to the diversity of views and opinions.\nKey Skills & Experience:\nExperience in underwriting facultative property and a good knowledge of the relevant markets, key occupancies and perils\nProfound knowledge and experience in the application of all relevant Munich Re underwriting and reporting tools as well as underwriting guidelines\nParticular experience in managing facultative facilities.\nHigh affinity towards IT, i.e. digitalization and automation\nVery customer-focused with excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, ability to build strong relationships with clients and brokers\nStrongly committed and motivated team player with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally with a diverse group of stakeholders\nExcellent networking and intercultural skills\nExcellent analytical and conceptual, problem solving and solution-oriented skills, open-minded thinking and very good decision-making capabilities\nWillingness to travel\nExcellent spoken and written English is essential\nDesired Qualifications and Educational Background:\nCII or equivalent desirable\nThought Leaders:\nYou are seen as an expert in your field and will be the ‘go to’ person for your area of specialism within Munich Re.
