This position provides operational oversight of critical data warehouse capabilities, data quality, production support processes, and incident management activities.\nWorking closely with business leaders, product owners, architects, engineers, and support teams, the successful candidate will drive operational excellence across data platforms while supporting strategic data transformation initiatives. This role combines production support leadership, data engineering expertise, stakeholder management, and operational governance to ensure data assets remain trusted, scalable, and business-ready.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead Data Operations & Production Support\nOversee the health, availability, and reliability of enterprise data warehouse operations.\n\nDirect the triage and resolution of production incidents, job failures, and data quality issues.\n\nEstablish incident priorities and drive root-cause analysis activities to prevent recurring issues.\n\nCoordinate escalation management and stakeholder communications for critical production events.\n\nDrive Operational Excellence\nDefine and monitor operational success metrics for data products, reporting assets, platforms, and enterprise data capabilities.\n\nIdentify and prioritize enhancements that improve platform stability, scalability, performance, and usability.\n\nEnsure operational documentation, support procedures, controls, and evidence remain current and audit-ready.\n\nSupport and continuously improve production support operating models and service management practices.\n\nSupport Enterprise Data Platforms\nServe as a subject matter expert across data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, and data APIs.\n\nProvide leadership across ETL/ELT processing environments and modern cloud-based data ecosystems.\n\nCoordinate vulnerability remediation efforts, including Mythos findings, by partnering with infrastructure, architecture, delivery, and support teams.\n\nSupport the operational management of platforms including Databricks, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Informatica IDMC.\n\nEnable Strategic Transformation\nLead strategic data-run initiatives supporting existing production environments and modernization programs.\n\nPartner with business product owners and technology leaders to prioritize backlog items and enhancement opportunities.\n\nContribute to enterprise data transformation initiatives while maintaining continuity of day-to-day support responsibilities.\n\nHelp shape operational strategies that improve business value, platform adoption, and data reliability.\n\nBusiness Partnership & Governance\nCollaborate with business and IT leadership to align operational priorities with organizational objectives.\n\nManage issue prioritization and resolution processes for production data defects.\n\nSupport compliance, governance, audit, and risk management activities.\n\nManage product budgets, including labor resources, subscriptions, licensing, and operational expenditures.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.\n\n7+ years of progressive experience in production support, data engineering, data operations, or technical leadership roles.\n\nExperience supporting enterprise data platforms within financial services, insurance, or similarly regulated industries.\n\nExperience with Databricks, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC).\n\nExperience supporting ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and large-scale enterprise data environments.\n\nStrong understanding of data warehouse, Lakehouse, and cloud-based data architectures.\n\nDemonstrated experience with incident management, operational governance, service management, and production support frameworks.\n\nProven ability to collaborate with senior business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and technology teams.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting enterprise cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).\n\nKnowledge of disaster recovery planning, resilience testing, and business continuity practices.\n\nExperience leading cross-functional operational improvement initiatives.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate technical challenges into business outcomes.\n\nDemonstrated ability to influence decisions and drive alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders.\n\nAbout Us\nAs the world's leading reinsurer with more than 42,000 employees across over 50 locations, Munich Re helps organizations navigate uncertainty and create opportunity. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s Princeton location.\nThe base salary range anticipated for this position is $141,800 - $207,900 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).\nThe salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Princeton. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
