This role supports a key strategic initiative, to profitably grow our business acting as a catalyst to new product implementations and performance management of existing client companies.\nThe PRS Underwriter is responsible to become the thought leader with Clients, bringing innovative solutions utilizing HSB’s vast resources of data, products & services. Working to tactically deploy HSB’s capabilities to optimize and enhance our client partnerships.\nWorking closely with Product Managers and with general oversight from the Underwriting Lead, the PRS Underwriter will deploy creative approaches for data analysis (including but not limited to diagnostic and predictive analytics) to understand and optimize product performance. These analytical approaches are used to design surgical strategies for corrective action to ensure rate adequacy, appropriate price segmentation & detection of leading loss trends. This includes analyzing claims, engineering, expenses, exposure data/profile shifts, pure premium trends & 3rd party exposure data.\nThe PRS Underwriter is responsible for delivering powerful client presentations (externally) to communicate financial results, data analysis, rate analysis & emerging loss trends. The PRS Underwriter is the technical expert for both our Client and Client Integration Team.\nA PRS Underwriter has underwriting binding authority to independently make underwriting decisions that drive their assigned portfolio’s financial results, subsequently impacting the business’ P&L.\nThe PRS Underwriter has product knowledge for all HSB PRS products with a focus on supporting the products, services and enhancements for each product. This is accomplished by striving to achieve a deep understanding of coverage and communicating the value of our products to existing clients and prospective clients.\nEducation and Experience\nBachelors or equivalent work experience is required\n5+ years of P&C insurance/reinsurance experience is required;3+ years in underwriting preferred\n\nDemonstrated understanding of commercial and personal lines insurance and reinsurance coverage, concepts, principles, exposures and processes to drive profitable results\nDemonstrated ability to translate large data analysis into actionable decisions\nDemonstrated understanding of rate development (pure premium), price segmentation & detecting leading loss trends\nPast experience with responsibility for achieving profit and growth targets for a book a business\nDemonstrated experience with negotiation and conflict resolution\nExhibited ability to develop creative and unique solutions\nHSB Product knowledge and Previous Experience and familiarity with HSB is desired\nKnowledge and Skills\nFinancial Statement (Business Finance) knowledge and analysis\nGeneral insurance/reinsurance industry knowledge\nPresentation Skills\nStrong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills\nPortfolio analysis\nHSB Product knowledge\nOrganization and time management skills\nConsultative and Strategic negotiation skills\nStrong project management skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and issues.\nPC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Word)\nDetail Oriented\nAction oriented with strong analytical, Actuarial skills, Statistical analysis, innovation and persuasion skills to influence change.\nNaturally curious and inquisitive to identify issues and solve problems.
