You will combine profound medical underwriting expertise with strategic thinking, market insight and a passion for innovation to shape underwriting practices, drive digital transformation and create measurable value for our clients and Munich Re.\nAs a senior member of our underwriting community, you will play a key role in realizing our ambition of being a proactive, market-shaping and high performing underwriting team, taking ownership for client outcomes, business opportunities and the future development of medical underwriting.\nYour Job\nServe as Munich Re's Chief Underwriter for Germany & Austria and act as the leading underwriting voice in these strategically important markets. \nBuild trusted relationships with senior decision-makers at key clients and represent Munich Re at industry forums, conferences and market initiatives. \nIndependently decide on complex underwriting and risk management matters and provide expert guidance on highly complex cases and underwriting questions. \nDefine and decide on market-specific underwriting philosophies, medical and non-medical underwriting guidelines, and best-practice standards. \nShape underwriting strategies, identify emerging market opportunities and proactively drive innovation in products, services, processes and digital underwriting solutions. \nAdvise clients and internal stakeholders on complex underwriting, risk management and underwriting transformation topics. \nOwn strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects that create measurable value for clients and Munich Re. \nDevelop and inspire underwriters and consultants, fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, innovation and client-centricity. \nYour Profile\nUniversity degree or equivalent qualification. \n10+ years of underwriting experience in Life & Health insurance and/or reinsurance, including deep expertise in Life and Disability underwriting. \nRecognized industry expert with extensive knowledge of the German insurance market and an established professional network. \nProven leadership experience, including the successful development of high-performing teams. \nDemonstrated ability to manage senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships at senior management level. \nStrong track record in driving underwriting innovation, digital transformation and strategic change initiatives. \nStrategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, executive presence and excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills. \nPassion for leveraging digital technologies, data analytics and AI to shape the future of underwriting. \nExcellent German and English language skills. \nWillingness to travel.\nWhy join us?\nThis role offers the opportunity to shape the future of underwriting in two of Munich Re's most important markets.
