{"id":1844475,"url":"https://alion.io/job/munichre-data-scientist-pricing","title":"Data Scientist - Pricing","company":{"id":36686,"name":"Munich Re","domain":"munichre.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/munichre","size_band":"1001-5000","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Career sitemap","truth_index":null},"role":"Data Science","role_family":"Data Science","seniority":"middle","employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Madrid, Spain"],"countries":["ES"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":35000,"max_usd":95000,"period":"year","method":"global_role_cell_scaled_by_country","sample_n":662},"experience_years_min":3,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"Databricks","optional":false},{"name":"Power BI","optional":false},{"name":"SQL","optional":false}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-09-23T00:00:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-04","last_verified_at":"2026-10-05T23:58:02Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":13,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":13},"description":"About us\nAt Munich Re Specialty - Global Markets (MRS-GM), it is our ambition to become the leading Primary Specialty Insurance provider, underpinned by an effective and adaptable strategy, superior products and industry leaders working in a supportive environment to achieve this.\nAt the heart of our success is a strong culture where people are encouraged to be present, bold and curious, allowing them to achieve their individual goals.\nPlease see our website for more information.\nData Scientist - Pricing\nWe are currently looking for a Data Scientist - Pricing to be based in Madrid on a full-time basis, reporting into the European HUB Pricing Manager.\nYou will be responsible for supporting the Pricing function’s evolution into a data-driven function within the Global Markets Pricing team in Madrid, applying data science and database techniques to pricing data and driving process automation to improve forecasting, decision-making, reporting and operational efficiency.\nYou will help collect, organise and analyse pricing and underwriting data from various sources, build well-structured databases, and develop predictive and analytical models and dashboards that clearly communicate insights to stakeholders.\nYou will collaborate closely with the underwriting team supporting the Chief of Underwriting, the Country Heads and the London and Munich Actuarial teams.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop Power BI dashboards and reports that clearly communicate insights to stakeholders.\nCollect, organise and analyse pricing and underwriting data from various sources across the Pricing team to derive insights that inform business decisions.\nBuild predictive and analytical models to identify key pricing and rating risk factors, improving forecasting and decision-making accuracy.\nDesign, build and maintain well-structured databases to support scalable pricing tools.\nSupport the build and maintenance of rating engine structures and underlying databases in HX Renew and other pricing platforms.\nCollaborate closely with the Pricing team to identify areas where data-driven insights and automation can improve their operations.\nWork with the IT team to ensure that pricing data is stored and analysed securely, with sound database design and management.\nMaintain clear documentation of data sources, processes and models to support audit, governance and knowledge-sharing.\nHelp drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.\nKnowledge and Skills\nAt least 3 years of experience in a data science, data analytics or database-focused role, preferably within the insurance industry.\nStrong knowledge of databases and SQL, with practical experience designing, building and querying relational databases.\nWorking knowledge of Power BI; experience with Databricks or similar big data platforms is a plus.\nExperience building predictive and analytical models to support business decision-making.\nSolid understanding of, or strong interest in, pricing/actuarial processes and data.\nStrong business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data and analysis into clear, actionable insights for both technical and business stakeholders.\nExperience with HX Renew or similar pricing platforms, and exposure to data governance or data quality practices, is a plus.\nFluency in English is a must, other European languages are also an advantage.\nIf you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with everything outlined, or you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway.
