Technologies and languages we work with include: Airflow, Snowflake, dbt, Git Hub, PlanetScale, Elasticsearch, Scala, Python, SQL, Amplitude, Appsflyer, Kubernetes, Kafka, Docker, Okta and Claude Code. We care more about your general engineering skills and technical leadership than your knowledge of a specific language and or framework.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nOwn the end-to-end systems design of the MyFitnessPal product data stack\nDevelop, drive, and maintain the systems architecture roadmap for the product data stack\nServe as the primary point of contact in Data Platform for the consolidated data stack, coordinating contributions from Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Product Analytics, and backend engineering teams\nDefine and enforce data movement and standardization discipline across the stack\nLead architecture review of new tool decisions, vetting vendors against the existing stack, surfacing duplication, and collaborating on proof-of-value evaluations\nContribute to the compliance architecture for user data, including PII tagging and a deletion/DSR policy by which every tool receiving user data is governed\nAdminister access and licensing across the data stack, maintaining a single view of spend and access\nDocument and evangelize architecture decisions, standards, and ownership models across the organization\nQualifications to be successful in this role:\n8 - 12+ years in systems design, architecture, or engineering roles, including 3 - 5 years designing end-to-end data platform architecture at the architect / staff level\nExperience architecting the integrations of a modern customer data stack - product analytics, experimentation, attribution, and marketing activation tools (e.g. Amplitude, Eppo, Harness, AppsFlyer, Braze)\nExperience in Snowflake or similar cloud data platform, including performance tuning, cost optimization, and role-based access design\nExperience leading vendor evaluations, tool consolidations, or platform migrations\nExperience implementing data governance, security, and compliance frameworks, including PII handling and deletion/DSR workflows across multiple destinations\nDemonstrated experience defining architecture standards adopted across a team or organization, and enforcing them through automation rather than manual review\nCost-conscious ownership of infrastructure and vendor spend, balancing performance and reliability against cost\nProven ability to drive architecture decisions across teams and organizations\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience deploying semantic layer and metrics layer best practices via dbt or similar tooling\nExperience with data cataloging/governance tools (e.g. Secoda, Snowflake Horizon) and metadata stewardship programs\nExperience in high velocity experimentation organizations, including exposure/assignment pipelines and experiment metric governance\nAdvanced SQL knowledge and experience\nExperience working in consumer-facing subscription app environments, with an understanding of acquisition, retention, and engagement metrics\nExperience making governed data safely available to AI assistants and agents - AI-ready data models, agent context, and guardrailed access patterns\nValues you’ll model\nBe Kind and Care - build with empathy; assume positive intent; support teammates and members.\nLive Good Health - champion healthy habits and balance in how we work and what we ship.\nBe Data-Inspired - ground decisions in research and data; measure what matters.\nChampion Change - lean into ambiguity; iterate, learn, and improve continuously.\nLeave it Better than You Found It - raise quality, clarify systems, and document as you go.\nMake It Happen - bias to action; deliver impact with craft and accountability.\nThe reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $160,000 - $220,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
