- Validation EngineerApply now »\n Date: 5 Oct 2026\n Location: Villeneuve, CH\n Company: Alstom\n Purpose of the Role\n The Validation Engineer - Train Level is responsible for preparing and executing verification and validation (V&V) activities at train level for Asset Life Management (ALM) projects, including modernization, retrofit and life-extension programs.\n The role ensures that the modernized train complies with system requirements, safety, quality and customer expectations, in line with Alstom processes, railway standards and project objectives.\n Key Responsibilities\n Define and implement the train-level validation strategy for ALM projects, in accordance with the V-cycle and Alstom V&V methodology\n Analyze system, subsystem and interface requirements, including:\n Legacy configurations\n Modernized or upgraded solutions\n Prepare, maintain and deliver V&V documentation:\n Train-Level Validation Plan\n Test Strategy, Test Procedures and Test Cases\n Validation Reports and evidence\n Requirements-to-tests traceability\n Plan, coordinate and execute train-level tests:\n Functional and integration tests on test benches\n Static and dynamic tests on train\n On-site, lab or depot testing activities\n Coordinate closely with:\n System Engineering, Safety Engineer\n Installation & Commissioning\n Project team\n Identify, analyze and manage anomalies and non-conformities:\n Root cause analysis\n Corrective action follow-up\n Support to closure and validation sign-off\n Participate in formal project reviews:\n Test Readiness Reviews\n Validation Reviews\n Customer or third-party assessments\n Ensure compliance with:\n Alstom Quality and Engineering processes\n Applicable railway standards and contractual requirements\n Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement for ALM validation activities\n Qualifications & Experience\n Education\n Master’s degree or Engineering degree in:\n Electrical / Electronic Engineering\n Systems Engineering, Automation or equivalent\n Professional Experience\n Several years of experience in Verification & Validation or System / Train-Level Engineering in the railway domain\n Proven experience in:\n Train-level testing and validation\n Modernization, retrofit or legacy fleet projects (ALM experience is an advantage)\n Technical Skills\n Good understanding of rolling stock train-level systems, such as:\n TCMS\n Traction and Braking\n Doors, HVAC\n Interfaces with signalling and auxiliary systems\n Strong knowledge of:\n V-cycle development and V&V processes\n System integration and interface management\n Familiarity with railway standards:\n EN 50126 / EN 50128 / EN 50129\n Ability to read, understand and apply:\n System specifications\n Train architectures\n Interface control documents\n Experience with engineering and V&V tools (depending on project context):\n Requirements management tools (DOORS)\n Test management and defect tracking tools\n Behavioral Competencies\n Strong analytical and problem-solving skills\n Structured, rigorous and quality-oriented mindset\n Ability to work autonomously while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams\n Good communication skills with internal stakeholders and customers\n Willingness to work on-site during testing and commissioning phases\n Proactive attitude and sense of accountability\n Languages\n Fluent in French and English (mandatory)\n Additional languages (e.g. German, Italian) are an asset depending on project environment\n Additional Assets\n Experience with legacy fleets or operational constraints\n
