We are here to lead change and are committed to empowering better financial futures for more Australians.\nBenefits and Life at HUB24\nLearn more about our employee benefits HERE.\nJob Summary:\nWe’re looking for a thoughtful, collaborative, and technically strong Data Engineering Team Lead to guide the design, delivery, and ongoing evolution of our data platforms and pipelines across HUB24’s digital and enterprise landscape.In this role, you’ll help shape scalable, secure, and well-governed data solutions-ensuring trusted, high-quality data is available to support product, operational, regulatory, and customer outcomes.\nWorking closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders, you’ll translate business needs into meaningful, scalable data products and solutions, while ensuring reliability, performance, security, and cost-efficiency remain front of mind.\nThis is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you’ll balance strategic thinking with practical delivery, guiding modern data architecture (Databricks, GCP) while staying close to the detail when needed. You’ll play a key role in uplifting engineering practices, mentoring others, and fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.\nResponsibilities:\nLead, support, and develop a high-performing, inclusive team of data engineers\nMentor and coach team members, supporting both technical growth and career development\nDesign, develop, and maintain systems across Engage and myHUB platforms\nBuild and optimise Databricks-based workflows, including batch and real-time data pipelines\nGuide the design of scalable, secure, and maintainable data architectures\nContribute hands-on to development to ensure high-quality, fit-for-purpose outcomes\nPartner closely with Product, Engineering, Cloud, DevOps/SRE, Cybersecurity, and business stakeholders\nTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible insights for decision-making\nDeliver prioritised initiatives, products, and capabilities on time and within budget\nDefine and implement target data architectures, sequencing plans, and platform capabilities\nEnsure solutions align with enterprise architecture, standards, and governance frameworks\nEmbed secure-by-design principles, including data access controls, PII protection, and data governance\nMaintain strong practices across data quality, testing, lineage, monitoring, and documentation\nLead continuous improvement across security, resilience, and engineering practices\nIntegrate AI capabilities where they add meaningful value\nBuild strong stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes through collaboration\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)\nExperience leading or mentoring engineers, with a passion for supporting and developing others\nProven experience designing and delivering complex data solutions in modern environments\nStrong experience with Databricks (or similar platforms) and high-volume data systems\nExperience with cloud-native environments (GCP preferred) including managed data services and streaming\nSolid understanding of OLTP systems (NoSQL beneficial)\nExperience with modern data architectures including APIs, event-driven systems, and microservices\nKnowledge of data warehousing, analytics ecosystems, and scalable reporting platforms\nUnderstanding of data governance, security, and privacy principles, including secure-by-design approaches\nExposure to AI integration and emerging technologies is valued\nExperience working in Agile environments (SAFe or similar)\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in plain language\nProven ability to manage competing priorities with clarity, care, and sound judgement\nExperience in regulated environments (financial services preferred)\nAwareness of privacy, encryption, data classification, and risk management practices\nThe Recruitment Process\nAcknowledgement email once your application has been submitted.\n\nOur Talent team will start reviewing your application.
