Why this is an exciting opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Risk Manager, Finance to join HUB24 on a long-term, 15-month fixed-term contract.

This is a hands-on role within Finance, responsible for establishing and embedding Finance's first-line risk capability and working closely with Finance leaders and process owners to strengthen the way risks, obligations and controls are identified, documented, tested and managed.

Importantly, we're looking for someone who has built their career in accounting or finance before moving into risk, controls, assurance or internal audit. You'll need to understand Finance processes as well as the risk and control environment around them.

What you’ll be doing

  • You'll work directly with Finance teams and key stakeholders to:
  • Establish and embed Finance's first-line risk operating model, including ownership, governance and escalation arrangements.
  • Identify and document material Finance processes, risks, obligations and key controls.
  • Establish clear linkages between obligations, risks and controls and maintain this architecture within Protecht.
  • Assess control design, ownership, frequency, operation and evidence requirements.
  • Test and substantiate key controls, review supporting evidence and identify control gaps.
  • Develop and monitor remediation actions and help ensure identified issues are appropriately addressed.
  • Coordinate Finance components of the Workday risk and control documentation uplift.
  • Provide clear reporting on progress, control gaps, risks and outstanding actions.
  • Build the tools, guidance and capability needed for Finance teams to own their ongoing first-line risk responsibilities.

What you bring

You don’t need to tick every box, but experience in the below will set you up for success.

Experience & Skills

  • For this role, you'll ideally bring:
  • A strong accounting or finance background, followed by experience in risk, controls, assurance or internal audit.
  • Hands-on experience identifying risks and designing, documenting and testing controls.
  • Experience working with obligations registers and obligations management, including connecting obligations to appropriate risks and controls.
  • Practical understanding of risk frameworks and the Three Lines model.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to work directly with Finance leaders and process owners.
  • Experience within financial services or another regulated environment would be highly regarded.
  • Experience using Protecht is highly desirable. Experience with an equivalent risk management system will also be considered.
  • Relevant accounting, risk, audit or assurance qualifications are advantageous.

This is a substantial 15-month fixed-term opportunity, rather than a short-term contracting assignment. You'll have a clear mandate to establish and uplift Finance's first-line risk capability, strengthen the obligations and controls environment, undertake control testing and ultimately transition ongoing risk responsibilities back to Finance process owners.

If you're an accounting or finance professional who has moved into risk and controls, and you enjoy getting into the detail rather than simply providing second-line oversight, this is an opportunity to make a tangible and lasting impact within HUB24.

Our process

We aim to keep the process simple and respectful of your time:

  • You’ll receive an acknowledgement after applying.
  • Our Talent team will review your application and keep you updated.
  • If shortlisted, we’ll connect to learn more about you.
  • Interviews may be virtual or in person.

If you need any adjustments, please let us know - we’re here to support you.

We’re committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported to do their best work. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences.

Agencies, we work with a panel of preferred suppliers and are not accepting any unsolicited CVs.
