But that's the position we find ourselves in. Join us, and you’ll unleash scientists, accelerate their research and help get cures to patients sooner.\nWe’ve developed machines to fully automate human cell production - the most manual process in Biotech. Cells are used to discover and develop new drugs, and now they're being used to cure diseases like Parkinson’s and age-related blindness. Mytos will impact cure development across the board.\nWe're live in multibillion dollar biotechs on both coasts of the US, and raised $19m to expand into the market faster, and accelerate our development! Next year, neurons grown on our machines will be going into Parkinson patient brains.\nWe’ve assembled a world-class team to take on this challenge, with ex-Dyson engineers and Nature-published scientists working hand-in-hand. You can learn more about your potential Mytos teammates here: Team\nMytos is backed by Y Combinator, the most successful startup program in the world which produced companies such as AirBnb, Dropbox, and Ginkgo Bioworks.\nThe Role\nAs a Junior/Mid level Software Engineer (depending on experience) you’ll be contributing across all areas of our full-stack product based in the Cloud, and our IoT devices that interface with Mytos hardware to manufacture cells. You'll contribute across a variety of technologies and paradigms, leaning how to research, design, implement, maintain, and evolve product functionality giving users powerful tools to customise and monitor cell growth protocols.\nYour work will directly impact how quickly and effectively new therapies and research tools can be developed, ultimately helping patients worldwide.\nWhat You'll Do\nCollaborate closely with other engineers to deliver end-to-end product functionality spanning experiment scheduling, automated image analysis, and remote operation of our devices.\nDevelop and improve our frontend applications using TypeScript, React, and GraphQL to create intuitive interfaces for complex biological workflows.\nBuild backend services that communicate with our hardware systems and learn about data integrity throughout the cell manufacturing process.\nCollaborate across disciplines with hardware engineers, biologists, and commercial teams to build reliable and effective systems in record time.\nLearn and contribute to our testing methods to help us deliver quality software at speed.\nLearn and contribute to architecture and infrastructure, system performance, and interesting distributed system challenges.\nWrite code that you can immediately see the real-world impact: testing on our prototype machines in our own lab.\nUp-skill in domains outside software engineering, from donning a lab coat and be trained on the nuances of stem cells, to the basics of fluid mechanics.\nBe given a lot of autonomy, responsibility, and ownership of product problems and the technical solutions you design and deliver to address customer needs.\nWhat We're Looking For (depending on experience level)\nAre early in your software career and want to join an environment that gives you the chance to grow quickly\nHave demonstrated technical promise so far in your studies or work\nWant to work on difficult technical challenges in a field that will define the biggest scientific advancement this century\nSelf-starter attitude with a drive for producing quality work.\nCare and compassion for customers and colleagues.\nExperience with full-stack web development using TypeScript or other typed languages.\nExperience with modern frontend frameworks (React preferred).\nExperience with backend development and API design (Node.js preferred).\nExperience working with databases (PostgreSQL and Prisma or similar ORM experience ideal).\nOur technologies\nFrontend (Netlify): React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Storybook\nBackend (AWS & Heroku): NodeJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, MQTT, PostgreSQL, Python, Pulumi IaC\nPhysical Device (on-premise): NodeJS, Typescript, FastAPI, Python, MQTT\nFirmware: C++, GTest, GMock, Bazel, Platformio\nHow We Use AI\nEvery engineer gets an AI tools budget. Pick what makes you faster.\nAI and its tooling keep getting better. We want to keep getting better at using it to ship quality code. So we keep an eye on the latest developments, and we try out & share workflows across the team. You'll find a setup that fits how you work.\nRight now, our team runs on Linear, and most of us use Claude Code. We’re trialling AI review platforms and low-friction cloud agents to tighten the loop from ‘needs doing’ to ‘shipped code’. Our company knowledge base is Notion - perfect for AI information retrieval and document drafting.\nThe bar for quality doesn't drop because AI wrote the first draft. You own your code, you understand it, and you can stand behind every line - whoever or whatever typed it.\nNice-to-Haves:\nUnderstanding of distributed systems concepts.\nExperience with Python for data processing or image analysis.\nBackground or interest in biology, lab automation, or scientific instrumentation.\nAny experience with regulated environments (GMP, HIPAA, etc.)\nAny experience with UI/product design processes and tools (wireframes, mockups, looks-like prototypes, etc.).\nWhy You'll Love Working Here\nImpact: Your work will directly enable the production of cell therapies that can transform patients' lives.\nGrowth: We're solving complex problems at the intersection of software, hardware, and biology-you'll constantly learn and develop new skills.\nAutonomy: You'll have the freedom to shape our approach to GMP readiness, with support from a talented cross-disciplinary team.\nTeam: Work with the best engineers and scientists in a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives drive innovation.\n Your tools, your call: An AI tools budget and the freedom to build the setup that makes you fastest - held to a high bar for code you own and understand.\nSalary and Benefits\nCompetitive salary with stock options\nCollaborative team environment with very high potential to learn new skills\n32 days holiday (bank holidays, end-of-year closure, and 21 days discretionary PTO)\nWorkspace with office, workshop and wet lab facilities in the Imperial College Innovation hub, White City\nStrong in-person culture with team lunches covered daily when in office\nFlexible working with core hours (10am to 4pm) to support team collaboration\nHybrid working (typically 2-3 days on-site per week) that respects where you do your best work while maintaining overall team efficiency\nCompetitive pension scheme with tax-efficient salary sacrifice option","description_format":"text","description_chars":6587,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Flexible schedule","Hybrid work","Stock options"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United Kingdom","iso":"GB","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Regenerative Medicine","CRO & CDMO Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-11T14:14:31Z"},{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-26T05:26:50Z"}],"liveness":{"score":3,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.095,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":562,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["conf:9","stale_co","ghost","win:tail","crowd:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/mytos-juniormid-software-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/mytos-juniormid-software-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T19:19:43Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1865,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":3135,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
