What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.\nAbout the role\nWe’re hiring a Robotics Software Engineer to build the software that makes our warehouse robots move and work reliably. You’ll work on behaviors, motion control, and state estimation, connect our software to the hardware and systems around it, and take new features from prototype to customer fleet.\nYou’ll join the Bot Software team, working with senior engineers and hands-on across mechanical, electrical, and software on-site. It’s a good fit for someone with a few years of robotics experience who wants real ownership and room to grow.\nWhat you’ll do:\nDevelop and test robot behaviors and functions, including task sequencing and recovery from stops and interruptions\nMake software robust to real hardware failures like stale data, bus errors, and sensors that misreport\nImplement and tune motion control features like drive control, axis moves, and trajectory following\nBring up sensors and actuators, and debug them over CAN/CANopen and our messaging layer (NATS, ROS 2)\nDefine and maintain robust interfaces across a mix of off-the-shelf and in-house components, from motor drives and PLCs to internal services\nWrite hardware abstractions and configuration that let features run across robot variants\nBuild simulation scenarios and automated tests, and keep them running in CI\nDebug issues on real robots with logs, telemetry, and bench tools\nOwn well-scoped parts of the stack in C++ and Python, and contribute to design and code reviews\nIdeal Candidates:\nBS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field\n2+ years of professional experience developing software for robots or other electromechanical systems\nStrong C++ and Python on Linux, STM32, or similar, running on real hardware\nExperience with behavior trees, state machines, or similar\nWorking knowledge of controls, kinematics, and state estimation (e.g., Kalman filters)\nExperience with ROS 2 or another pub/sub framework\nHands-on experience integrating hardware and vendor software (motors, encoders, IMUs, LiDAR, cameras) over CAN, UART, SPI, or similar\nExperience testing in both simulation and on hardware\nA methodical, evidence-driven approach to debugging\nClear communication across disciplines\nNice to have:\nBehavior trees or state machines\nMobile robots or warehouse automation, ideally at fleet scale\nMotion planning, trajectory generation, or LiDAR-based collision detection\nDocker or Kubernetes experience\nExperience with PLCs\nA Final Note:\nIf this role excites you, we encourage you to apply - even if you don’t check every box.
