What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.\nAbout the role:\nAs a Sustainment Engineer at Mytra, you will join our Customer Operations team as we scale from early customer deployments to a growing base of live, production sites. Once a site moves through commissioning and into hypercare, Sustainment is the team that keeps it running and you’ll be the hands-on engineer closing the loop between what’s happening on the floor and what Engineering needs to know.\nThe Sustainment Engineer executes defined troubleshooting, maintenance, and reliability work at customer sites: diagnosing field issues, performing corrective actions, managing spare parts and service kits, and documenting everything with the rigor our customers and our engineering teams depend on. Working collaboratively with the Senior Sustainment Engineer, who provides day-to-day technical direction, you’ll execute against the reliability standards and escalation practices defined by the Sustainment Lead and hold the line on system uptime.\nCustomer interaction is regular and on-site. You’ll be at the customer facility, representing Mytra professionally to maintenance and operations teams, and communicating clearly under pressure when something’s down. Day-to-day, your primary working interfaces are the customer’s maintenance team and your Senior Sustainment Engineer; what matters most is diagnostic discipline, documentation quality, and fast, clear escalation when an issue is outside your scope.\nThis role is built to deepen, not to pivot. As you demonstrate diagnostic judgment, documentation quality, and field discipline, you’ll take on more complex root cause work, a larger share of customer-facing escalations, and eventually mentor newer technicians. The people who do well here want to become the most capable troubleshooter in the building and the person the customer calls first.\nThis is a field support role. You’ll be the person who keeps our systems running in a customer’s facility, day after day, with the evidence to prove it. You’ll also be one of the first points of field feedback into the product and engineering teams. This role includes periodic rotating on-call or after-hours escalation coverage to support customer uptime commitments outside standard site hours.\nLocation:SF Bay Area preferred.\nTravel:primarily to our Bay Area HQ through the end of this year (75%), moving to approximately 75% travel to customer sites across the US once deployments begin next year.\nWhat you’ll do:\nDiagnose and resolve field issues on deployed robotics and ASRS systems, performing hands-on corrective actions using hand, and power tools\nPerform routine and corrective maintenance, and support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) on recurring issues under the direction of the Senior Sustainment Engineer\nManage spare parts planning, service kit deployment, and CMMS/PLM record-keeping for assigned work orders\nAct as a technical point of contact for the customer’s maintenance and operations team during routine support and escalations\nProduce accurate, complete documentation for every service event: photos, measurements, troubleshooting steps, and resolution evidence\nFollow and help refine technical support guides, troubleshooting manuals, and standardized playbooks\nEscalate issues with clear context, including root cause hypothesis, objective evidence, affected systems, and recommended next actions, to the Senior Sustainment Engineer\nWhat we are looking for:\nMust have:\n1-3 years of field service, maintenance, or customer support engineering experience, ideally in industrial, robotics, automation, or similarly complex electromechanical environments\nHands-on electromechanical troubleshooting experience: wiring, connectors, sensors, actuators, and comfort working around powered equipment with hand and power tools\nExecutes with discipline from defined work instructions: follows checklists precisely, documents evidence completely, and holds quality standards under schedule pressure\nDemonstrated safety discipline in live, powered industrial environments\nClear communication: flags issues concisely, escalates with context, and closes the loop with the Senior Sustainment Engineer and the customer\nNice to have:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering, or equivalent hands-on/technical training (military, trade school, or apprenticeship backgrounds welcome)\nFamiliarity with CMMS/PLM systems for parts inventory and work order tracking\nAbility to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings\nFamiliarity with forklift certification and comfort around heavy equipment\nSpanish/English bilingual communication skills\nPhysical requirements:\nAble to perform physical labor for the duration of a shift, including standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, crouching, and crawling into tight spaces\nAble to lift and carry up to 40 pounds from the floor\nAble to work at heights with appropriate fall protection\nA Final Note:\nIf this role excites you, we encourage you to apply - even if you don’t check every box.
