This role provides the technical capability required to transform complex delivery, risk and operational data into trusted, scalable and actionable insights that support governance, prioritisation and decision making.\nThrough the design and operation of high-quality data pipelines, reporting platforms and data products, the Data Engineer enables a single source of truth for major programs including Big Rocks and Classic Tech Risk.\nWorking in partnership with the Reporting & Insights team, AI Squad and Delivery Assurance, the role drives automation, improves data quality and unlocks meaningful insights that help surface portfolio truth early, strengthen governance and improve delivery outcomes.\nThis role sits at the intersection of data engineering, reporting, and business insights. The successful candidate will help transform and simplify data from multiple technology and business sources, enabling meaningful reporting, visualisation, and decision-making across the organisation. A key focus of the role is turning complex datasets into actionable insights for stakeholders, including senior leaders and executives\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDefine and validate data requirements for Domain, Tech and Delivery metrics\nPartner with business and technology stakeholders to define reporting requirements and drive adoption of data-driven insights.\nDesign and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions that provide actionable insights for operational and executive stakeholders\nTranslate complex datasets into meaningful visualisations and narratives that support decision-making across technology and business initiatives.\nProvide technical input to reporting automation and performance insights\nStandardise metric definitions and ensure consistency across\nResponsible for providing and gathering data requirements for large scale data engineering or analytics projects\nStructure end-to-end processes of data extraction, transformation, and storage to deploy models and analytical solutions in real-time and offline analytic processing.\nImplement, maintain, and further develop ETL processes, data lineage, and observability across large-scale data ingestion from a variety of sources. \nBuild and operate automated ETL/ELT pipelines supporting P&I reporting\nImplement data validation, quality checks and lineage\nTechnology Work with ED&A and source system SMEs to resolve data issues\nDocument data structures, dependencies and quality impacts\nYOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES\nExperience\nMinimum 7 years of experience across data engineering, analytics engineering, reporting or business intelligence environments, with experience working with large and complex datasets.\nKnowledge of core banking data and technology systems and infrastructure, Agile software delivery lifecycle (SDLC), excellent presentation skills.\nExperience in data/tech related project delivery would be highly desirable \nKnowledge of API and UI design would be useful\nEssential capabilities\nStrong SQL skills and experience working with data transformation and automation tools (Python, Spark/Databricks preferred).\nExperience using Power BI, Excel and data visualisation techniques to deliver reporting and actionable insights\nAbility to communicate data insights and influence decision-making across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders.\nData modelling, quality, lineage (e.g., unit/integration tests, data contracts, anomaly detection); design for reliability and scale.\nAbility to translate business needs (Domain/Tech metrics, governance) into technical deliverables; clear written and verbal communication to non-technical stakeholders. \nFamiliarity with SDLC and performance/engineering metrics (e.g., DORA, flow, predictability).\nTHE BENEFITS AND PERKS\nWe appreciate and reward our colleagues who do great work every day - from excelling for our customers, to taking ownership of an issue to get it resolved.
