Let's shape the future of maritime technology together.\nRole Overview\nWe are seeking a Project Engineer (m/f/d) Propulsion Control to join our engineering team. In this role, you will work on the design, engineering, testing, and commissioning of marine automation systems, with a focus on propulsion control and Dynamic Positioning.\nYou will work as part of an established project team, contributing to projects from technical clarification and system design through to Factory Acceptance Testing and onboard commissioning. The role also includes occasional service assignments, giving you exposure to systems already in operation.\nThis is a good fit for an engineer with a few years of automation experience who wants to broaden their expertise in marine systems and work both in-house and in the field.\nKey Responsibilities\nContribute to the design and engineering of marine automation systems, including system descriptions, test protocols, and technical documentation\nDevelop and maintain project-specific PLC software and HMI applications\nTest systems, subsystems, and functionalities throughout the engineering process\nSupport and participate in in-house and supplier Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)\nCarry out on-site commissioning of propulsion control and Dynamic Positioning systems, including international assignments\nParticipate in onboard acceptance tests and vessel trials\nPerform occasional service activities, including troubleshooting, testing, adjustments, and calibration\nPrepare service documentation and technical reports on completed work\nWork professionally with shipyards, vessel owners, and crew during commissioning and service\nEnsure compliance with quality, safety, and cybersecurity procedures\nKey Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, Maritime Engineering, or a related field\nMinimum 3 years' experience in automation engineering; experience in the marine or offshore sector is an advantage\nWorking knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages (Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart)\nFamiliarity with industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS RTU/TCP, CANopen, RS485, or RS422\nAbility to read and understand electrical schematics and system documentation\nGood understanding of sensors and industrial networks\nBasic awareness of cybersecurity principles in an operational technology environment\nHands-on mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team\nStrong written and spoken English\nWillingness to travel internationally, including work onboard vessels and at customer sites\nWhy choose us and why we'd choose you?\nAt NACOS Marine, you'll become part of a global organization developing innovative maritime technology solutions for customers around the world.
