Staff Engineer, ERP Workday Extend Integration

REQUIREMENTS:

• Total Experience 6+ years
• Strong hands-on experience in Workday Integration development and support.
• Hands-on experience with Workday Extend, including custom business objects, custom fields, custom APIs, orchestrations, and UI/App Builder pages
• Advanced expertise in Workday Studio, including complex multi-step integrations, XSLT/XPath transformations, Groovy scripting, error handling, and custom logging.
• Strong experience with Workday EIB, including inbound/outbound integrations, custom transformations, scheduling, and troubleshooting
• Strong experience with Workday Core Connectors and Cloud Connect for payroll, benefits, and third-party integrations.
• Strong experience with Workday Web Services, including SOAP/WWS, REST APIs, RaaS, API versioning, and deprecation management.
• Strong understanding of Workday Orchestrate and Business Process Framework for extending native business processes and implementing custom logic.
• Working knowledge of PECI and experience supporting US Payroll and payroll/benefits-related integrations
• Strong experience with Workday security configuration, including Integration System Users (ISUs), security groups, domain and business process security policies, X.509 certificates, OAuth 2.0, and SAML.
• Strong experience in Workday reporting, including advanced, matrix, and composite reports, calculated fields, and RaaS.
• Working knowledge of Workday Prism Analytics, including data ingestion and integration of Workday and external data sources
• Exposure to Workday AI and automation capabilities, including Workday Illuminate, AI Gateway, Agents, and machine learning-driven capabilities
• Experience integrating Workday with third-party systems such as payroll providers, benefits carriers, ATS platforms, financial systems, data warehouses, and middleware platforms such as MuleSoft
• Strong experience with XSLT, XPath, Groovy, and complex data transformation and mapping requirements.
• Experience with integration monitoring, alerting, logging, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting Workday semi-annual releases, impact assessment, regression testing, and remediation activities
• Experience packaging and promoting Workday integrations and configurations across multiple tenants
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working in Agile environments and managing multiple priorities/projects simultaneously

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support end-to-end Workday integrations across HCM, Payroll, Financials, and Talent.
• Develop and maintain complex integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, SOAP, REST, and RaaS
• Build and support inbound and outbound integrations with payroll providers, benefits carriers, ATS systems, financial platforms, data warehouses, and external applications.
• Design and develop custom applications and extensions using Workday Extend, including custom business objects, APIs, orchestrations, and UI pages
• Extend native Workday business processes using Workday Orchestrate and Business Process Framework capabilities
• Apply Workday AI and automation capabilities to streamline business processes, integration workflows, and reporting solutions.
• Develop complex data transformations using XSLT, XPath, Groovy, calculated fields, and Workday Custom Reports.
• Configure and support PECI and other payroll/financial interface protocols as required.
• Develop advanced Workday reports, including matrix and composite reports, calculated fields, and RaaS endpoints for downstream consumption.
• Design and implement secure integration solutions using ISUs, security groups, domain and business process security policies, X.509 certificates, OAuth 2.0, and API access policies.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune production integrations to ensure reliability, performance, and data integrity.
• Perform root cause analysis for integration incidents and implement long-term corrective and preventive solutions.
• Partner with Workday functional teams across HCM, Payroll, Financials, Talent, and ATS to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions
• Lead technical design sessions and create integration design documents, technical specifications, and implementation documentation.
• Review peer solutions and provide technical guidance on integration architecture, coding standards, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Support Workday semi-annual release cycles by assessing changes, identifying integration impacts, and coordinating regression testing.
• Manage integration event monitoring, alerting, and log analysis to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Support packaging and promotion of Workday configurations, integrations, and Extend applications across Workday tenants.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of Workday solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior integration developers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing across the team.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
