He may be required to act as the Shipboard Safety Officer.\nHe understudies and is responsible to the Second Engineer Officer for:\nAccountabilities\nThe safety of all personnel working under his supervision\nElectrical systems and equipment\nStores and spare gear allocated to his charge by the Second Engineer Officer\nElectrical and mechanical maintenance and safety\nTechnical supervision of the work force as required\nCarrying out any lawful command and delegated duty as issued by the Chief Engineer and /or Master\nAccountabilities - 2\nAccountabilities - 3\nCompetencies\nCommunications with other nationalities\nDifferent types of Pumps, Centrifugal/Rotor dynamic and positive displacement\nDiversity Awareness\nEmergency procedures\nEngine Water tests\nEvaporators - Relationship between temp and pressure, why use Vacuum, Air compressors - Maintenance and overhaul\nExperience of managing crew members\nExperience with multinational crews\nFlashing from cold, purge cycles, testing of Boiler water and associated hazards with incorrect impurity levels.\nImportance of weekly routines and equipment tested.\nIT experience\nL.O Systems and safeties, Fresh water and Jacket cooling requirements\nMaintenance of Engines and overhaul of cylinder heads\nOrdering spares and Bunkers\nOther types of ship’s\nOverhaul of Gauge glass\nPersonal safety, Ship safety & protection of the environment.\nPrevious Oil major experience\nPTW systems, ISM requirements, Risk assessment\nPurifiers and Clarifiers - difference between and reasons for heating Fuel/Lub oil prior to entry, Gravity discs\nReasons for testing of Boiler water.\nRefit Experience\nSafety features associated with Generating equipment\nSewage treatment Plant - Gravity and Vacuum systems\nStarting and Paralleling DG /TA\nSteam driven and Framo Cargo pumps\nTeamwork\nTesting of Fuel injectors and correct atomization.\nUMS operations.
