This role designs, implements, secures, and sustains databases and data-management capabilities. Support services include database design and development, performance tuning, testing, backup and recovery, release support, documentation, and coordination with application-development teams.\nResponsibilities\nThe following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.\nDesign and implement databases to meet application requirements.\nDevelop and implement database objects, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and schemas.\nCreate and maintain data models to ensure data consistency and integrity.\nImplement database security measures, including authentication, authorization, and access controls, in compliance with applicable DoD and DoN policies.\nOptimize database performance through indexing, caching, and query optimization.\nMaintain current database design, development, and implementation documentation, including entity-relationship diagrams and data-flow diagrams.\nDevelop and execute database test plans, including unit, integration, and performance testing.\nCollaborate with application developers to ensure database designs meet application requirements.\nDevelop and implement backup and recovery plans that protect data integrity and availability.\nManage database instances, including their creation, configuration, and deletion.\nUse the enterprise-wide version-control system and support secure, quality-controlled CI/CD builds, testing, and deployments.\nIdentify, define, or modify interfaces with other systems and applications, ensuring agreements are formally documented with the interfacing system or application.\nSupport production outages, development of release packages, work-item updates in the designated tool, and internal review or change boards.\nConduct quality audits of NAVSUP products, perform causative research on errors, and provide corrective action.\nMaintain a professional relationship with clients, team members, and internal and external agencies and organizations.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications: S hall have two years or more of experience and knowledge in the following areas:\nTwo or more years of experience and knowledge performing database administration, data management, database engineering, or related software-engineering activities.\nKnowledge of the design and implementation of computer and database-management systems.\nKnowledge of current software and database engineering methodologies, design techniques, and applicable software and database standards.\nExperience using Structured Query Language (SQL) and Microsoft SQL Server database-development capabilities.\nExperience with Microsoft development tools and the analysis, development, maintenance, and testing of database-supported applications.\nExcellent technical, organizational, planning, oral and written communication, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, and decision-making skills.\nThe following are desirable qualifications or levels of experience:\nExperience designing and developing relational databases with Microsoft SQL Server.\nExperience with SQL programming, stored procedures, views, schemas, data modeling, and database-performance optimization.\nKnowledge of secure coding and database-security practices, including access control and identity-management principles.\nExperience developing test plans and conducting or coordinating unit, integration, user-acceptance, and performance testing.\nExperience with Azure DevOps, Microsoft O365 and Teams, Excel, Visio, and Outlook applications.\nKnowledge of DevSecOps patterns and practices, including CI/CD pipelines and version control.\nExperience with service-based architectures, APIs, REST, SOAP, or event-driven architectures.\nKnowledge of Amazon Web Services architecture.\nIAT Level II certification.\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree with a technical major, such as engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, is required. The degree requirement may be substituted with two years of college or technical education and three to five years of related work experience.\nExperience with government and DoD environments is desired.\nMilitary Installation Access: Must be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass. Must be able to obtain a favorable National Security Agency Check (NACI), including an FBI fingerprint check. Must be a U.S. citizen.\nTravel: Travel will not occur regularly and will typically be less than 5% of the time.\nLocation: This is a remote position.\nPhysical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:\nAbility to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.\nAbility to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.\nAbility to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.\nThe Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $115,000.00 to $140,000.00 (annualized USD).
