Individuals are expected to apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and techniques to project assignments.\n\n*This is a full time, non-rotational position located at NANA Worley headquarters in Anchorage, AK. Remote work may be considered on a case by case basis*\n*This position is eligible for the NANA Worley employee referral program, available only to current NANA Worley employees*\nResponsibilities\nDesigns and plans layout of projects engaged in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment to carry out processes on commercial scale.\nDevelops process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).\nUses computer modeling software to design processes.\nAssists in preparing scopes of work and manhour estimates for new project work.\nPrimarily responsible for developing process flow diagrams, heat and material balances and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P& IDs).\nDesigns equipment to control movement, storage, and processing of petroleum liquids and gasses. \nDesigns process safety systems including PSV sizing and ESD control philosophy. Performs hydraulic calculations.\nDetermines most effective arrangement of unit operations exercising judgment to compromise between process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and physical and health hazards.\nParticipates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) of process systems, and assists in addressing resultant findings.\nPerforms assesses system performance through stages of production to determine degree of control over variables such as temperature, density, specific gravity, and pressure.\nAssists in development of operating procedures for new process systems and facilitating operator training on new or modified systems.\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nThe following describes the education and experience typically required to develop the competencies for each classification level; competencies may be demonstrated with other combinations of education, training, experience, and achievements:\nEngineer\nBachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution; and \nA minimum of 2 years of work experience, with oil and gas industry experienced preferred; and\nEngineer in Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam preferred.\nSenior Engineer\nBachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution; and\n4-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry; and\nPE license strongly desired\nStaff Engineer\nBachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution, 8-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and PE license; or\nBachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience.\nSenior Staff Engineer\nBachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution, 15+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and PE license; or\nBachelor’s degree and 20+ years of experience.\nPrincipal Engineer\nBachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution, 20+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and PE license; or\nBachelor’s degree and 25+ years of experience.\nPreferred Experience:\nEducation in or experience with unit processes. \nExperience with or education in engineering for Cold regions or Arctic conditions.\nHydrocarbons industry experience.\nAlaska North Slope Oil and Gas industry experience.\nLanguage Ability:\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, client, or employees of organization.\nMath Ability:\nAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and calculus through differential equations. Understanding of probability and statistics with the ability to apply to risk and consequence evaluations.\nReasoning Ability:\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
