We're much more interested in engineers with strong fundamentals, curiosity and a willingness to learn.\nWhat you'll be getting up to\nThis is a hands-on engineering role where you'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and designing solutions through to building, testing, deploying and supporting software in production.\nYou'll be:\nDesigning, developing, testing and maintaining reliable software that supports our customer identity, loyalty and engagement platforms.\nBuilding and improving backend services using Go, with opportunities to work across JavaScript, TypeScript and other technologies.\nWorking on event-driven systems, APIs and integrations that connect our customer platforms with internal and external services.\nHelping develop secure, scalable solutions that protect customer information and support our rewards programme.\nTaking ownership of features and services, with support from Technical Leads and other experienced engineers when needed.\nCollaborating with engineers, Product Managers and other teams to understand challenges and deliver practical technical solutions.\nWriting automated unit and end-to-end tests, helping improve the quality and reliability of our codebase.\nContributing to technical discussions, backlog refinement and planning, helping break down requirements and estimate engineering work.\nWorking with CI/CD pipelines, supporting deployments and helping troubleshoot build or release issues.\nSupporting services in production, including investigating issues, monitoring performance and improving reliability.\nPairing with other engineers, participating in code reviews and sharing knowledge across the team.\nLooking for opportunities to improve existing code, automate repetitive tasks and make our engineering processes more effective.\nWe believe in an \"if you build it, you run it\" approach, so you'll have the opportunity to see how your work performs in production and help keep the services you build running smoothly.\nWe also want you to feel comfortable asking questions, challenging ideas and suggesting better ways of doing things. You won't just be here to pick up tickets and write code.\nWhat we're looking for\nWe're looking for someone who's already built a solid foundation as a Software Engineer and is excited about continuing to develop their skills.\nYou'll ideally bring:\n Hands-on experience developing software using Go (Golang).\nProfessional software engineering experience, ideally building and maintaining backend services or full-stack applications.\nA good understanding of software engineering fundamentals and writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code.\nExperience working with APIs, backend services or systems integrations.\nAn understanding of automated testing and why it matters when building reliable software.\nExperience working in an agile engineering environment, collaborating with others to deliver features and improvements.\nA practical approach to problem-solving, debugging and understanding how systems work.\nThe ability to contribute to technical discussions, break down work and provide input into estimates.\nGood communication skills and the confidence to share ideas, ask questions and learn from others.\nA genuine interest in technology and a willingness to explore different languages, tools and approaches.\nIt would also be great if you have experience with:\nJavaScript, TypeScript or React\nRust\nBigQuery or Dataform\nEvent-driven architectures and distributed systems\nCustomer identity, authentication or data protection services\nLoyalty platforms, rewards programmes or customer engagement systems\nThird-party integrations and APIs\nCI/CD pipelines, monitoring and supporting production services\nWe're not expecting you to be an expert in everything.
