Corporate sustainability - both environmental and social - is at the forefront of our decision making.\nAbout the Role\nSupport the mechanical design, development, and testing of Nanopath's point-of-care molecular diagnostic reader platform.\nDesign, source, build, and test mechanical assemblies and mechanisms, including their interactions with the fluidic cartridge and onboard chemistry.\nDevelop mechanisms supporting cartridge engagement, fluid actuation, and instrument motion, with attention to reliability and manufacturability.\nDesign, build, and test systems from prototype through commercial module verification. \nSupport component sourcing and collaborate with vendors and contract manufacturers on custom and off-the-shelf parts.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams (systems, electrical, software, assay) to define requirements and ensure robust cartridge-to-instrument integration.\nExecute design controls and design verification testing, and maintain documentation in compliance with ISO 13485.\nTechnical Qualifications\nExperience designing mechanisms and mechanical assemblies, ideally in a regulated environment.\nProficiency in SolidWorks and application of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.\nFamiliarity with manufacturing processes relevant to mechanisms and assemblies (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, casting, extrusion) with a focus on design for manufacturability and affordability.\nExperience executing ISO 13485 design controls, including design verification testing of module level designs.\nUnderstanding of fluidic systems and the mechanical interactions between an instrument and a consumable cartridge is a plus.\nExperience with human factors engineering or industrial design for healthcare settings is a plus.\nGeneral Qualifications\nB.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline with at least 3 years of industry experience.\nAbility to work on-site in Cambridge, MA.\nExcellent communication and presentation skills, highly organized with demonstrated curiosity, scientific rigor and creative problem-solving.\nProactive self-starter with eagerness to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.\nPassion for technology translation and willingness to shape Nanopath’s future.\nDon’t meet every single requirement?
