This role sits within the File System team, responsible for the core storage architecture powering Nasuni's cloud-native file platform. \nYou will provide technical leadership across distributed file system architecture, storage protocols, metadata services, data protection, and Kubernetes-based infrastructure. You will influence long-term platform direction while remaining close enough to the technology to solve some of the most complex systems challenges in enterprise storage.\nThis role is ideal for engineers who thrive at the intersection of distributed systems, performance engineering, cloud-native infrastructure, and large-scale storage platforms.\nThis role is not intended for engineers focused primarily on application development, front-end technologies, or isolated feature delivery.\nThis role is located at Nasuni's Hyderabad Office - Hybrid 3 Days Onsite per week. \nLevel & Scope Definition\nYou will:\nOwn architectural decisions spanning multiple subsystems\nLead technical strategy for distributed storage and file services\nDrive platform scalability, resilience, and operational excellence\nInfluence engineering standards across multiple teams\nMentor senior engineers and technical leaders\nBalance long-term architecture investments with near-term delivery goals\nResponsibilities\nDefine architecture and technical direction for Nasuni's distributed file system platform\nLead design and implementation of core storage services including metadata, snapshots, caching, replication, and recovery\nDrive evolution of NFS, SMB, and S3 access services\nEstablish scalability, performance, and reliability standards across the platform\nPartner with Platform, Control Plane, Security, and Infrastructure teams on system-wide initiatives\nGuide architectural reviews and technical decision-making\nLead resolution of complex production and performance challenges\nImprove engineering productivity through automation, observability, and modern development practices\nUtilize AI-assisted engineering workflows where appropriate to accelerate development, troubleshooting, analysis, documentation, and testing while maintaining accountability for quality and security\nMentor engineers and contribute to technical talent development\nExpected Outcomes & Impact\nImprove platform scalability and resilience for enterprise workloads\nInfluence multi-year architecture decisions across the storage platform\nReduce operational complexity through automation and platform improvements\nAccelerate engineering velocity while maintaining reliability standards\nRaise technical excellence across the File System organization\nQualifications\nMust Have\n12+ years of software engineering experience focused on systems programming\nDeep expertise in C and C++\nSignificant experience designing distributed systems at scale\nStrong understanding of file system internals, POSIX semantics, VFS, metadata services, and storage architectures\nExperience with Kubernetes-based distributed platforms\nExperience leading architecture decisions across multiple engineering teams\nExperience with NFS, SMB, S3, or related storage protocols\nProven ownership of large-scale technical initiatives from design through production\nPreferred\nExperience with cloud-native storage platforms\nLinux kernel, FUSE, or eBPF experience\nConsensus systems and distributed coordination\nHigh availability architectures\nPerformance engineering and storage benchmarking\nExperience mentoring senior engineers and technical leads\nIdeal\nExperience building enterprise-scale file systems\nContributions to storage, distributed systems, or infrastructure platforms used by large customer environments\nExperience establishing engineering standards across organizations\nAI workflow optimization experience for software development and platform engineering\nExperience Guidelines\n10-15+ years total software engineering experience\n7+ years in distributed systems, storage, or infrastructure engineering\n3+ years leading architecture or technical direction across multiple teams\nAI at Nasuni\nAI at Nasuni is used to improve efficiency, decision-making, and engineering outcomes.
