About the Role

National Energy System Operator (NESO) are looking for a Product Owner to lead the development and delivery of the Data Sharing Infrastructure (DSI) product roadmap.

The DSI is a decentralised socio-technical solution that will enable secure, resilient, and standardised data sharing between energy system participants.

This opportunity is at the centre of the Interim DSI Coordinator, responsible for decision-making over the prioritisation of user requirements and implementation of the shared digital infrastructure ensuring that DSI features address issues and deliver value to the Energy sector.

Product Owner will be responsible for owning the backlog of features and requirements. They will lead the product team, working closely with architecture and management & governance teams and third-party delivery bodies to drive quality assurance and alignment with architectural standards. This role will be the face of the DSI and shape how it delivers a user-centred, technically assured product that supports the energy sector’s digitalisation.

This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct andlead the product team to ensure the DSI and its product roadmap are aligned with development activities
  • Oversee the DSI product, ensuring delivery of value for the Energy sector and DSI user satisfaction over time
  • Lead the scoping, definition and prioritisation of user needs and detailed DSI requirements with consideration of technical feasibility and ongoing development activities
  • Participate in engagement with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights, pain points, and expectations
  • Lead the translation of DSI requirements into feature development initiatives
  • Own and manage the product roadmap, including supporting artefacts such as traceability matrices
  • Provide product management oversight and lead the quality assurance of delivery partners’ outputs
  • Own the Trust Framework, working with the Integration and Architecture teams and delivery partners to manage significant Trust Framework revisions and lead dispute negotiations and resolution agreements
  • Oversee the continuous review, initial analysis and prioritisation of the issue backlog, and collaborate with the DSI Architecture Manager and other architecture roles to identify dependencies between features which deliver most benefit
  • Oversee traceability between requirements and DSI solution architecture and implementation, plus across use cases, data products, and components

  • Experience of leading oversight and assurance of third party delivery partners
  • Experience of product ownership, backlog management, and requirements development
  • Experience of translating requirements into prioritised features and managing trade-offs based on value, risk, and efforts
