In addition to a starting wage of $37.81 per hour, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more.\nUnder direct supervision, to do drafting and elementary detailing involving no original design of plans and drawings for construction projects of all types, and of diagrams, maps and records, and perform such duties as:\nPrepare finished drawings including diagrams, maps and records prepared by others;\nAssist in the creation and maintenance of 3D CAD models of substation equipment;\nDevelop simple drawings, parts of drawings and details from complete information assembled from various sources;\nAssist in the update of new and/or existing substation design standards such as description of design or drafting procedures, processes, drawings, and details.\nTest other design or drafting software/hardware and workflow to increase design productivity and accuracy.\nOccasionally take measurements and other data in the field;\nJob Qualifications:\nAAS Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent as determined by management\nProficient in 3D CAD software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or equivalent software. \nAbility to use drafting equipment and computer aided design in a skillful manner;\nKnowledge of materials and equipment used in construction\nAbility to work with and guide the work of others\nAbility to interpret and produce technical drawings and schematics.\nEffective communication and teamwork skills.\nMust pass a validated aptitude test\nValid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy\nNOTE: Drafting Technician B's shall, after a period of greater than one year but no longer than two years, and after having demonstrated the ability to perform Drafting Technician C work in a manner satisfactory to the Company, be promoted to Drafting Technician C at the time of the annual Review Board.\n$37.81 an hour\nMany of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union.
