This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business.\n#LI-DL1\nJob Purpose\nThis role is responsible for managing National Grid’s environmental permitting and compliance activities related to its generation and natural gas operations on Long Island and New York City to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental requirements. This includes ensuring that applicable environmental requirements are established, communicated, and implemented for high-value, complex activities across project initiation, design, and construction as well as overseeing the company’s environmental compliance as it relates to operations. The role includes direct supervision of 10+ employees to deliver high-quality, compliant outcomes.\nKey Accountabilities\nProvide direction and oversight for Environmental Licensing and Permitting and Compliance staff, ensuring alignment with National Grid's strategic goals and objectives and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.\nOversee the environmental permitting and compliance programs consisting of but not limited to: air, SPDES, ASTs/USTs, land use, wetlands, waste management, etc.\nOversee the monitoring National Grid’s field operations and facilitate compliance with applicable local, state, federal & company requirements. Monitoring shall include understanding all environmental requirements for facilities where applicable including generation plants, LNG plants, gas transmission and distribution facilities, and operation centers.\nOversee project permitting, including coordination, tracking, and timely completion of required approvals.\nEffectively communicate with peers and regulators to facilitate understanding, issue resolution, and compliance.\nMaintain a high level of knowledge regarding current and proposed federal, state, and local regulations and National Grid’s Environmental Procedures to ensure compliance.\nMaintain accurate, auditable recordkeeping of permit applications, approvals, monitoring results, and correspondence.\nOversee contracting and vendor activities related to environmental permitting and compliance.\nMonitor capital and O&M budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective delivery of environmental services.\nDevelop and maintain close working relationships with Operations, Engineering, Construction, Legal and other personnel to share best practices and communicate business decisions.\nEnsure adequate training is provided to corporate-based personnel to comply with applicable federal, state, local and company environmental regulations\nEnsure that technical guidance, support, and coaching is provided to build understanding of environmental requirements.\nProvide direct supervision to assigned employees, including work assignment, prioritization, and day-to-day guidance.\nMonitor and review team deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory and company requirements.\nProvide coaching, feedback, and support to develop skills, capability, and performance.\nQualifications\nA bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, applied sciences, or other related fields. Graduate-level education is a plus.\n10+ years of progressive experience conducting and/or overseeing environmental licensing and permitting, with a strong preference for experience related to utility operations in New York is highly preferred.\nSupervisory experience with proven ability to develop and lead a team.\nProven experience engaging with regulators and stakeholders effectively and professionally.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare permit applications, technical reports, and to present to internal and external audiences.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and common permitting/project tracking systems; familiarity with Environmental Management Systems is a plus.\nValid driver's license and a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy is required; ability to travel to divisional offices and other locations as needed.\nMore Information\nSalary:$162,000.00 - 193,000.00 USD Annually\nNational Grid will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
