This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business.\nJob Purpose\nLead a high-performing team of engineers responsible for protection analysis, transmission system modeling, and technical support for customer load and generation interconnections. In this role, you will play a critical part in enabling the transition to a cleaner, more reliable energy future by facilitating the integration of new customers and energy resources onto the transmission network. Working closely with leaders across Engineering, Operations, IT, and Project Management, you will drive the successful delivery of complex capital projects, influence strategic decisions, and help ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of the electric grid. This is an opportunity to combine technical leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration while making a meaningful impact on the evolving energy industry.\nKey Accountabilities\nResponsible for overseeing the team’s overall performance including timeliness of interconnection studies, capital project support, and modeling. The group will be responsible for all Transmission and Sub-Transmission impedance modeling.\nCoordinate with Transmission Planning on impedance models.\nInterface with customers and regulators to justify scope and explain technical justification for technical requirements.\nOversee impedance model process with New York ISO and meet associated regulatory requirements.\nOversee completion of engineering from preliminary engineering through completion of projects associated with interconnecting customers including greenfield three breaker ring projects as well as direct interconnections to existing substations.\nConduct monthly one on one meetings, formal quarterly reviews, and end of year performance reviews with team\nHiring, orientating, training, mentoring, and development of the team.\nMaintain a strong working relationship with Engineering, Operations, IT, and Project Management.\nMaintain knowledge of the engineering process, organizational structure, and other discipline processes. \nDrive teamwork in a collaborative, matrix organization.\nDevelop and maintain working relationships quickly and effectively\nWork with a wide range of people internal and external to the company handling a variety of problems and demands.\nQualifications\nA Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited institution in Electrical Engineering is required.\nAt least 6 years of experience in Electrical Engineering is required\nProtection Engineering knowledge is required.\nKnowledge of and experience with interconnection processes is preferred.\nDemonstrated experience and ability to plan, direct, and execute technical work.\nProficient in Microsoft Office software such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio, and MS PowerPoint.\nAbility to organize and work on a wide variety of tasks concurrently. \nExcellent communication and analytical skills\nValid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy is required.\nStrong ability to lead and motivate team of direct reports.\nExcellent influencing and negotiating skills.\nExcellent communication skills and ability to effectively problem solve challenges presented.\nExcellent leadership skills and highly motivated.\nOrganized with an ability to understand project drivers and prioritize tasks accordingly.\nAbility to work independently and empowered to make decisions to drive progress\nMore Information\nSalary: $161,000 - $189,000 per year\nNational Grid utilizes an assessment that evaluates the job qualifications/characteristics using AI or statistically based scoring.
