Its openings include capital project managers for gas and electricity, transmission engineers, control room operators, data engineers, category buyers, quantity surveyors, wireless network engineers and customer advocates.

About the role

Great Britain's electricity network is undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation. Alongside industry partners, we're building a cleaner, greener energy system that will power the future and protect the planet for generations to come.

We're looking for Project Supervisors to join our South-Central team (located in the South of England from Kent across to Devon) within our Infrastructure Delivery business unit. Supporting new build and substation upgrade projects as well as overhead lines across the region, you'll ideally live within commuting distance of the south coast.

You'll play a critical part in ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of construction activities across our infrastructure projects. Working closely with Principal Contractors, project teams and stakeholders, you'll support the delivery of projects to the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental performance while ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, National Grid policies and contractual requirements.

You'll act as a key site representative, providing first-line assurance and oversight of construction activities, monitoring progress, managing risks and supporting successful project delivery.

This role supports sites across the region, with an expectation of being on-site 3-5 days per week. We aim to keep travel as local as possible and will make every effort to place you close to your home base. However, there may be occasions when travel to other locations, including overnight stays, is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction activities to ensure safe, compliant and high-quality project delivery.
  • Support contractors and project teams in meeting CDM, health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and safety assurance activities, identifying and managing risks.
  • Lead site coordination and stakeholder meetings to support effective project delivery.
  • Review construction documentation, including RAMS, quality plans and project programmes.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, escalating risks and issues as required.
  • Support quality assurance activities, defect management and the timely resolution of non-conformances.
  • Maintain accurate site records, reports and project documentation.
  • Act as a key site representative, supporting client assurance activities and contractual obligations.
  • Support the delivery of projects to agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality and safety objectives.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to the development of future talent.

About you

We're looking for experienced construction professionals with a strong background in infrastructure delivery, ideally within the electricity transmission or distribution sector.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in construction site supervision, project delivery or a similar role within electricity infrastructure or a comparable industry.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Experience working with contractors and undertaking site assurance activities.
  • Understanding of project risk management and delivering projects to safety, quality, programme and cost objectives.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and construction best practice.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
  • A relevant qualification in engineering, construction, project management or equivalent experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH and/or CQI/IRCA Quality in Construction training.
  • Authorisation to National Grid BP142.
  • Experience acting as a Client Representative or Employer's Supervisor under NEC contracts.

What's in it for you?

  • A competitive salary between £49,600 to £57,000 plus Company Car
  • 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days.
  • The option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. Overall 18%.
  • Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave - relevant to your role.
  • Access to flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
  • Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).
  • Access to apps which support health, fitness and wellbeing.
