The position offers excellent opportunities for promotion in the field depending on experience level. The level of experience will determine the grade and pay. The base pay ranges from $97,000-$106,000 depending on qualifications and experience level.\nJob Description\nInstall, test, maintain, and troubleshoot all types of relays and associated protection and control circuits in distribution, substation, and transmission systems.\nPerform functional testing of protection and control systems.\nLead and assist other relay technicians in the Installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of power circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers (i.e. Current and potential transformers) and auxiliary substation equipment.\nCalibrate and test electromechanical and microprocessor-based protection and communication relays.\nObtain on the job training as well as classroom/lab training\nParticipate in and perform safety discussions/meetings as required.\nFollow and implement all applicable company policies, procedures, and standards.\nSupport and promote Company mission and goals.\nOperate various types of test equipment from different manufacturers.\nQualifications and Knowledge\nAAS or BS Degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering. OR\nAOS in Electrical Construction and Maintenance and Minimum three (3) years of electrical experience in related field\nProtective relaying experience is preferred\nAdept on the use of computers and able to manage and maintain computer software.\nAdept at working with AC and DC electrical elementary drawings/blue prints.\nGeneral understanding of IEEE /ANSI devices and numbering System.\nAdditional Requirements\nValid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.\nMust have a high school diploma or GED\nMust pass validated aptitude test\nSelf-motivated and able to learn on own.\nAbility to work well with vendors, customers, and other employees.\nGood written and oral skills.\nAble to work overtime and respond to emergency callouts.\nNETA Certification is a plus\nSalary:\n $47-51/Hr (based on qualifications)\nNational Grid will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
