This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business.\nJob Purpose\nThe New England Electric Major Projects team drives project management for major electric capital construction project investments, leading the clean energy transformation and significant portfolio growth. Projects include multi-year complex, large-scale substation, transmission and distribution projects. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing the execution of major electric capital construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient delivery within budget, schedule, and scope, while coordinating with stakeholders and supporting strategic project objectives. This role offers the opportunity to mentor Associate Project Managers and grow into more senior leadership roles based on performance and experience.\nKey Accountabilities\nEnsure compliance with the Capital Delivery process by overseeing the development and finalization of MSA (Master Service Agreement) and construction contracts. This includes managing preliminary engineering, baseline schedule, detailed cost estimate, risk profile, and resource strategy.\nManage siting, permitting, regulatory approvals including cost recovery mechanisms, and customer/community commitments.\nManage project finances and schedules, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and timelines. Identify and address any deviations promptly, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and optimize project efficiency.\nManage and coordinate contractors and project teams to successfully deliver projects to time, cost and specification and with minimal disruption.\nMonitor contractor site activities to ensure compliance with National Grid SHES standards, Health & Safety requirements, Environmental legislation and OSHA regulations.\nComply with internal business management system (BMS) for major projects.\nCollaborate closely with customers to understand their requirements, expectations, and feedback. Foster positive relationships, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.\nFacilitate the permitting process by liaising with relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements. Proactively address any permitting challenges or delays to minimize project disruptions.\nDevelop and maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders, including regular reporting on project progress, risks, and milestones. Foster transparency and engagement, addressing stakeholder inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.\nMonitor and control the investment throughout the process providing regular project monthly status reports including: SHE performance, milestone progress, risk management and competent, accurate and timely financial forecasting information to support regulatory reporting including cost recovery, and business and capital planning.\nProvide emergency storm restoration support during weather events.\nQualifications\nRequired:\nBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.\n\n3+ years of experience in engineering, project management, utility construction, or equivalent relevant experience. \nDemonstrate exceptional personal initiative, integrity, and effective interpersonal skills while fostering positive and collaborative relationships with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials.\nExperience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI.\n\nValid driver’s license. \nPreferred:\nBachelor's degree in an engineering discipline \nMore Information\nWhy National Grid?\nHelp shape the future of New England's electricity system.\nLead projects that support reliability, affordability, and the clean energy transition.\nCollaborate with experienced professionals across engineering, construction, operations, and project delivery.\nGain exposure to large-scale infrastructure investments and complex capital programs.\nBe part of a company committed to safety, innovation, and delivering value for customers and communities.\nSalary\n$123,000 - $144,000 a year\nNational Grid will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
