Here’s what you can expect in an early careers Procurement role.\nProcurement\nIn a Procurement role, you’ll support commercial activity that helps Nationwide achieve value and build effective, responsible supplier relationships. You’ll learn how procurement decisions balance cost, quality, risk and customer outcomes. In this role, you will:\nSupport sourcing activity and help colleagues understand business requirements and supplier options.\n\nHelp maintain supplier, contract and commercial information, spotting risks, issues and opportunities.\n\nWork with experienced procurement colleagues to support negotiations, contracts and supplier performance.\n\nBuild relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, communicate clearly and look for ways to improve commercial outcomes.\n\nWhere you’ll be working\nYou'll join our Procurement function, which works across Nationwide to source goods and services, support effective supplier relationships and deliver sustainable commercial value. Working with experienced procurement professionals, you'll learn how business needs are translated into sourcing and contracting activity.\nLocation\nAt Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.\nFor this job you'll spend at least two days per week based at our Glasgow office.\nIf we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.\nWhat you’ll be doing on the Procurement Development Programme\nThe Procurement Development Programme is a two-year programme, with the next intake commencing in September 2027.\nDuring the programme, you'll join teams that support Nationwide's commercial priorities and work with suppliers across a range of goods and services.\nYou’ll start with an induction programme before joining a structured learning pathway. You’ll learn more about Nationwide, connect with colleagues and build the foundations for your role through procurement and commercial training, digital learning, interactive workshops and insight from leaders and industry experts.\nYour learning will build core commercial, supplier and skills before you apply them in a procurement team. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting real business needs, with guidance from experienced colleagues.\nThroughout your two years on the programme, you’ll gain experience across procurement activity and have the chance to apply your learning to sourcing, supplier and commercial work.\nDepending on your placement, you'll use tools such as Microsoft 365 and procurement systems to support analysis, planning, collaboration and accurate record keeping.\nNo two days are the same. You could support a sourcing exercise, gather workshops and analyse business requirements, review supplier information or help maintain contract and governance records. You’ll work with stakeholders and suppliers, manage competing priorities and build confidence in asking questions and constructively challenging others.\nYou'll develop skills in commercial awareness, stakeholder and supplier management, communication, problem solving, analysis, planning and prioritisation. You'll also work towards relevant industry-recognised foundational learning.\nMany participants progress into procurement or commercial roles.
