This position is responsible for conducting training for employees from other locations as required, including Store Manager, Assistant Manager, and 2nd Assistant Manager trainees.\nApplications are accepted by the date below, which may be updated if the hiring timeline is extended.10/21/2026\nResponsibilities\nKey Responsibilities include the following essential functions, but are not limited to:\nCustomers are greeted and serviced per company standards of World Class customer service\nAll company managers are expected to be professional and provide appropriate leadership for the staff.\nCustomer complaints are handled appropriately and per company policy\nThe store is inviting and shopable.\nProducts customers want to buy are in-stock\nSpecial orders are handled appropriately and per company policy\nEnsures the phone is answered per company standards and is on the sales floor assisting customers, directing staff and attending to all departments at least 75% of the time\nTraining staff on how to give exemplary customer service and ensuring staff is held accountable\nEnsuring staff is in compliance with applicable state and/or county food safety certifications and registration\nThe Assistant Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is meeting and/or exceeding expectations in the following areas:\nStore and department sales and Sales per Labor Hour Ratio\nAverage Ticket, Customer Count, Cost of Goods Sold for Produce\nEBITDA\nEnsures product is ordered from the correct vendors in order to receive the correct discount and maintain margins\nEnsures in-stock conditions meet company standards\nProduct mix is monitored, including:\nregular analysis of departments to keep top sellers and discontinue extremely slow movers;\nnew products are brought in per company policy\nEnsures perishables are rotated and stocked per company standards\nMark-downs are managed per company standards\nResponsible for assisting the Store Manager in hiring, training and managing all store personnel per company standards\nTrains store personnel, assigns tasks, and is accountable in accomplishing tasks\nEnsures master and daily schedules are accurate, complete and meet store needs. Schedules are posted in a timely manner and tasks are assigned on a daily basis using company tasks sheets.\nPartners with department managers to share staff to accomplish tasks as needed on a daily basis\nTrains and monitors staff to ensure store is viewed as a whole, assisting customers in all areas\nPartners with department managers to cross-train staff to accomplish all needed tasks\nPartners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs, training staff on where to find answers to customer questions by utilizing store resources\nAssists the Store Manager in completing and conducting all store staff performance evaluations with input from the department managers. Assists in granting wage increases when appropriate\nInterviews and hires for store needs with input from department managers\nAddresses all performance and/or disciplinary issues appropriately and in a timely manner with the assistance of Human Resources\nMaintains clear and direct communication with store staff which includes helping conduct monthly staff meetings and posting company information and announcements\nResponsible for ensuring safety guidelines are followed at all times\nEnsures that all Unitime edits are made in a timely manner\nResponsible for assisting the Store Manager in training, coaching and developing store personnel\nHe/she encourages staff to increase their nutritional and product knowledge\nHe/she answers (and ensures store staff answers) customer questions per company standards and policies, including the use of Structure/Function statements and/or statements of nutritional support\nSuccessfully completes operational responsibilities (daily schedules, checklists, opening and closing)\nEnsures store paperwork/reports are completed in a timely manner (including Monthly Mgr's Report)\nEfficiently and accurately completes the DSR and Manager's Cash\nResponds to all Dept. Manager calls when on duty and assists with coverage for lunches and breaks\nWorks a schedule based on store needs including evenings, weekends and scheduled for 45 hours per week\nCoaches staff on how to be supportive of decisions made by home office, listens to directions from home office, following through and correctly performing the job assigned\nReads and follows communications (memos, faxes, emails) from home office\nRemains flexible to changing work demands in order to accomplish goals\nManagers are expected to be leaders in the workplace, setting the standard of excellence required through their job performance and professional demeanor\nThe Assistant Store Manager/Trainer HO is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in training, coaching and developing store personnel.\nProactively hires, trains and develops store staff, department managers and Assistant Store Managers to move into future store management positions (at their own store and at other stores).\nEffectively trains new store management in proper store and department operations.\nIs willing and able to move into a Store Manager position.\nProvides training following all training curriculums, checklists, and other training materials as provided through the NGVC Training Program.\nFollows all company policies and procedures so the trainee is provided with a model for fulfilling company expectations.\nProvides the trainee with resources such as QRGs, procedural instructions, etc.\nEnsures the trainee can demonstrate knowledge of/and or ability to perform each trained task or topic, and provides feedback, coaching and retraining as necessary.\nAlthough this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be ''hands on'' and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.\nQualifications\nEducation, Skills & Experience\n1-2 years of management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience, natural foods industry a plus.\nAble to manage changing priorities.\nPossesses a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.\nPossesses excellent customer service skills.\nIs highly organized with great attention to detail.\nAbility to stay focused with the task at hand.\nAbility to take direction and follow through.\nMust be cashier trained.\nProficient in MS Word, excel and outlook.\nThis job description is not an employment contract.
