Our mission is to connect young people to the science and wonder of the natural world, igniting self-discovery, and inspiring stewardship of the planet.\nWhat You Will Do:\nThe Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of meals in a buffet-style cafeteria for up to 240 child and adult participants. The Cook directs the Kitchen Assistants in the preparation, service and cleanup of assigned meals.\nThis position takes place at Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and cannot be performed remotely. Weekend availability is required.\nYour primary job will be to:\nPrepare and cook buffet-style meals for up to 240 people.\n\nDirect kitchen assistants and other support staff during their shift.\n\nMaintain a safe and clean work environment.\n\nReceive and stock deliveries of food and supplies.\n\nLabel and store foods in a manner that meets NPS public health standards.\n\nEstablish and maintain respectful, supportive and compassionate relationships with staff, volunteers and participants.\n\nCollaborate with Evening Cook on areas of need for upcoming meals.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.\n\nCompensation:\n$20.68/hour\n\nMedical, dental and vision insurance\n\nOption for a 403b retirement plan with employer match after six months\n\nGenerous PTO: accrue 15 vacation days, 2 personal days, 8 days sick leave, 10 paid holidays per year\n\nOther benefits include Employee Assistance Plan (EAP), Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and more\n\nWho You Are:\nWe are looking for candidates who have:\nTwo years of related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
