The Prototype Technician is familiar with every sequence of building a boat and tests the performance of the product to meet specific standards.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nSprays gel coat onto test parts.\nTapes, wraps, and preps molds for spray.\nApplies and rolls layers of fiberglass and resin. \nInserts metal reinforcing pieces.\nPulls prototype parts, hulls, and decks out of molds.\nGrinds edges off parts and inside of hulls.\nCuts and drills holes according to prints and specifications.\nInspects gel coat and sands and buffs parts. \nAssembles and installs all components of the prototype. \nPerforms quality tests on specific prototype parts.\nConducts performance tests on prototypes during all stages. \nFabricates sheet metal components.\nSkills, and Abilities:\nStrong mechanical skills required. \nAbility to proficiently use common hand tools and specialty tools such as battery screw guns, drills, table saw, band saws, grinders, routers, calipers, and torque wrenches. \nAbility to read a tape measure accurately.\nAbility to read assembly prints and assemble units per print.\nAbility to swim in lakes and around boats.\n[AS1] Ability to keep the work area clean and orderly.\nAbility to follow all safety requirements and guidelines. \nAbility to work well with the team to complete required tasks.\nAbility to take direction from various Supervisors and Managers, and adapt to change quickly and often \nMust be flexible to change daily scheduled hours to work with Production’s requirements as needed.\nRequired to sign and abide by the Nautique Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure the protection of the new product for the company. \nRequirements\nKnowledge, Education and/or Experience:\nHigh School degree or equivalent.\nAssociate degree or technical degree preferred.\n1 to 3 years previous experience in manufacturing preferred.\nComposites experience required.\nBasic computer skills required.\nExperience driving a Forklift preferred. \nExperience loading and hauling boats preferred.\nBoat driving, loading and hauling experience preferred.\nExperience with tooling, infusion, and hull shaping skills a plus. \nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.\nMust be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.\nMust be able to lift 40 pounds when necessary.\nThis is a safety-sensitive position.\nSwimming is necessary to successfully perform some functions of the role.\nSpecific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.\nThe employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear.\nAdditional Requirements:\nMust be a licensed driver with a good driving record (subject to MVR).\nNotice of AI Use in Job Application Review\nAs part of our commitment in creating a fair, efficient, and consistent hiring process we may use artificial intelligence (AI) to help our recruiting teams organize, summarize, and analyze information provided by candidates, including resumes, application responses, and other materials submitted during the application process.AI may be used to identify patterns, highlight relevant skills, and experience, and assist in comparing a candidate’s qualifications with the requirement of a specific role.
